Re: Captain Quazar

How is it? Snagged one on eeeBay for what I felt to be a reasonable price ($18ish after shipping?), CIB of course. What do you think of the game? Good? Bad? To my understanding, it's a top-down run 'n gun-ish game. Sounds like my cup of tea, especially since there aren't many like it on the platfor...

I'm liking a lot of the features present in this emulator.

Any chance of either saving or displaying the output logs (or stdio) that were part of FreeDO?

In the orginal cel, the data is compressed; whereas BMPTo3DOCel stores the data uncompressed.

To make a loading screen, you need to use makebanner, and use a 24 bit uncompressed bitmap.

It seems like there were other signing issues with the normal libraries, or the Game Guru libraries might bypass some checks. I can't remember.

Has anyone else built from Windows and gotten sound to work? Welp, just answered my own question. I assumed the code that cdoty posted in his .rar was the same as the code from the SDK I'm using, so I never even looked at it. It's not quite the same -- bounce.c had set ENABLE_SOUND to 0. It would have to be an internal modification. You would have to tap the RGB signal before the composite/s-video conversion.

I wonder if it will require converting the data to 3DO format.

The easiest thing would be to see if any of the wad tools could view the 3do wad file.

Possibly it is in another format, not the same WAD file for Doom 2 (PC). Is it any converter or other thing to edit 3DO Doom rezfile? Yeah, it could be a diffe...

Not quite a debugger, but you can use printf debugging with FreeDO (version 1.9 supports it).

Look for a debug.fz10.mes file on your C drive.

The toolkit has been updated with a utility to convert a 320 x 240 uncompressed 24 bit BMP to a BannerScreen.

To use it type:

'MakeBanner Banner.bmp BannerScreen'

Once you've made the BannerScreen file, drop it in the PARCE_ folder, and rebuild and resign the iso.

The ARM SDT 2.11a produces no warnings, and compiles to a file that is pretty much the same as the the one produced by the 3do devkit. I included an ARM SDT 2.11a makefile (makefile.211a).

The only differences in the image is that my Lib3DO and exampleslib were built without debugging info.
