Re: Is this the most active 3DO forum on the web?

Ooh, thanks for the heads up on the Atari Age 3DO forum. I think part of what caused the google spider to bug out also had to do with the name change of the forum from 3DO Zone. At least, it appeared to happen at that time. Could be the spider was banned during the same period of changes.

Re: Need for Speed on 3DO destroys the other 32-bit versions

I figure this is as good a place to post this as anywhere. So, being that it's GDC 2017 time, I've been watching some talks from last GDC that have been posted recently on youtube. I came across this little tidbit: https://youtu.be/Rx6j9AOpg68?t=7m16s

Re: xBox 360 audio channel confusion

I haven't played any of those games on 360, unfortunately. I've got one, but I'd rather play cross-platform games on PC if they're on there. However, all the games I played on 360 never had that issue. I'm a big headphone guy, myself. I played for the first several years with a VGA cable on a PC mon...

Re: For original xbox owners - ATTN -

I haven't opened an original Xbox in about 10 years, but I don't remember it being particularly hard. Microsoft likes to build their RF shielding as an actual box with screws holding it together. So you open the outside plastic housing, and then inside it's a whole other metal box to open. Just, lot...

Autobahn Tokio (and racing game ramblings)

Not a lot of talk about this game on the forums. Other than it being crap. I'm curious about it though. I like arcade racers. Sometimes. I want something different to play on my 3DO. Road Rash is great, but I've realized that I prefer playing it on PC. Actually put quite a bit of time into the PC ve...

My condolences. That really sucks. Do you know if he was aware of this community and how devoted people are to his creation? I mean, the Amiga was a huge hit, but the 3DO, not so much. I hope he did.

Re: About to do a complete recap on my Fz-1

Is that with a disc in or with no disc? If you don't have a disc in, does it go to the normal "space potato" thing? I'm guessing not. But if it does, could just be your laser's given up the ghost. Along with the drive mechanism, it sounds like. Once you get it apart, could be the belt came off. Well...

Re: About to do a complete recap on my Fz-1

Weird symptoms. When the 3DO logo comes up, is it in the normal colors? But yeah I'd bet a recap would likely fix it. Good first thing to try, anyway.

Re: 3do power options(NTSC unit in Australia)

Why??? Its cheaper and safer to use a step down tranny... I will have to disagree with you there. First, let's go with the "safer" portion. Many cheap stepdown (or stepup) transformers are usually not built for many watts. In fact, a lot of the cheap Chinese ones flat out lie on the label. Then, wh...

Oh yeah, the Super GB CPU thing! Still jealous of that. My DMG (backlit, biverted, etc.) unfortunately is having issues. Lines showing up seemingly randomly on the screen. Bad connection to the LCD of that impossible plastic little ribbon cable, I think. Might have cracked. Makes sense, considering ...

Re: Request: Controller monitor/test program.

The main issue is being willing to sacrifice the controllers. I considered having switches (or relays, or a software equivalent) to switch controllers from "host" to "slave" modes, but that would require a ton of extra wires inside the controllers. Probably too many to be able to close them back up ...

Re: Request: Controller monitor/test program.

I'm going to basically solder to all the buttons and connect them to a cord connector (probably hdmi) and at the other end have another plug that goes into my arcade stick. I've got everything planned out for sort of a "universal" connector that I'll use for controllers. Basically, just a common pin...

Re: Request: Controller monitor/test program.

Sorry it took me so long to try this. I just recently moved and had trouble finding my CD-Rs. Had to go through a lot of boxes. I went straight for version 2, and I'm afraid I couldn't get it to work. Only had two CD-Rs left and tried burning it with two different programs (ImgBurn and Alcohol 120%)...

Really hope you're able to ferret out the problem. As far as the oscillators, this post lists them with part number. Re: Request: Controller monitor/test program.

Looks absolutely perfect! So psyched you're doing this! No worries about the splash screen. When writing my previous post, I actually stopped and wondered whether one of the reasons for a splash screen/intro on 3DO might be to cover up load times of software and/or OS. I mean, I'm pretty sure that's...

That would be incredibly awesome. I have another request regarding it. If possible, don't include any intros or anything. I mean, that'd be even more work to add them, but I know most people tend to like a fancy presentation with their homebrew. However, as a completely utilitarian piece of software...

Request: Controller monitor/test program.

Maybe something like this already exists in a menu in one of the games, or elsewhere. If so, please let me know where. What I'm hoping for is a very simple program I can run on the 3DO (as a burned iso) to see when buttons are being pressed. Maybe a simple image of a 3DO controller where each button...

That may be the worst-designed website I've ever visited in my life. Zoom's, not yours. I know for some reason, people think frames on websites are cool again (what is this terrible world coming to), but good god. One on the top AND one on the bottom? And they're HUGE! I guess the platform itself mi...

PS : I suggest you poking it around a little bit with it and try to downgrade some things if possible. Re: About to do a complete recap on my Fz-1

Nice work. Still really weird about Gex though. I wonder if maybe Gex does something that other games don't. You could try to track down one of the original programmers. I know that sounds like a weird suggestion, but I've actually had great luck in the past doing that with various games. Most of th...

I'm sure this is a no brainer to you, but for any caps you can't quite fit, you could always extend them out with a little bit of wire and stick 'em wherever you can fit them. In all my console modding and portablizing, I couldn't tell you how many components I've had to relocate over the years. Nev...

Re: Why has 3DO Zone disappeared from Google?

So I've discovered that not only does the site not come up on google when searching for it by name, but the "site:" function of google doesn't work either. If you're unfamiliar with that function, it allows you to search for something specifically within a certain website (or in this case a forum). ...
