Re: Request: Controller monitor/test program.

Huh. I did not know that you made that portable PC. I've seen the video before. I was planning on attempting some portable system mods, but my standards are way too high for what I would actually be able to accomplish. Power consumption is the biggest issue, really. I've done some modding myself. On...

Re: Request: Controller monitor/test program.

Good luck with the project, it seems quite ambitious. Especially with the joysticks. I'm not sure how that will work out, but I wish you good luck.

I could definitely see an advantage to that though. Getting familiar with one controller and using it on everything would be super convenient.

Re: Request: Controller monitor/test program.

Excellent! I'm glad to see you got it working (and that your 3DO's laser is still perfectly fine). And no worries about the focus. I can see it just as clear as I need to to know it's working.

What sort of hacking/modding will you be doing? Functional, visual, or just repairing a controller or two?

Re: Request: Controller monitor/test program.

I burned both versions and both read almost immediately on my FZ-1. I was able to test all four of my controllers at once (with V0.2). One of them even has turbo and it shows on screen as the button flickering. If you have troubles with this burn and not others, try burning it at a very slow speed. ...

Re: Recompiling Dr. Hauzer for Translation

There are some patching utilities for other ROM hack projects. Maybe one of them would work for this? I'm excited for this and could definitely test the .iso on a real 3DO. And do you have a link to your LP? I'd watch it. On the topic of that other post, the only link that still works is Icebreaker ...

Re: Request: Controller monitor/test program.

I've tidied up what I wanted to tidy up and I even added the ability to test controllers beyond player 1. Theoretically it goes to the full 8 player maximum, but I haven't been able to test that. I've only tested up to 5 controllers, which I'm sure is enough for what most people would want. Each con...

Re: Request: Controller monitor/test program.

Yes. I just want to tidy up the code a bit. And maybe add some comments. It's pretty straight forward, though. Load images, set to sprites, turn on or off sprites based on controller input. I'm building it mostly off of the Rastersoft Invades project so there's not really much new there. Even so, I ...

Re: Request: Controller monitor/test program.

I have completed the program. It took longer than expected because of a few unforeseen events. The first was that even in the official 3DO documentation, they do not reference what every key is in code. They cover directions, the face buttons and the "start" key, but they leave out the last three ke...

Re: Request: Controller monitor/test program.

Haha! No worries. I completely understand what you want and I won't be adding any extra stuff to it. It will require no buttons to be pushed in order to get to the controller tester either (what's the point in a controller tester if you need a fully functional controller to use it!). Unfortunately, ...

Re: Request: Controller monitor/test program.

I can definitely make the first part. It wouldn't take very long at all for a simple controller tester. I'm not sure how hard it would be to support more than one controller, but one should be easy.

Re: LongTris (WIP)

It's really convenient that the website allows us to search the 3DO docs through google. Just starting to read this page shows a lot of insight on some important stuff regarding the frame buffer and the output stuff. For instance, our max framerate is 30 fps, because it outputs in 480i, even though ...

Just wanted to let you know that trying to update the screen several time seems to have little to no effects. Guess i'll have to find another tetris clone that is not using pixel drawing... Re: LongTris (WIP)

I have already figured out how to play sounds or even music without much issues. It's far from perfect though but it should do the job for a game like tetris. Re: Memory Unit - Worth it? (nevermind, it's mine now xP)

Just traces in the bottom, yes. In theory there could be a way to replicate these memory units, but that would probably cost more than buying the real thing. I've seen, however, people soldering one extra memory chip to the 3DO's motherboard, and switching between them using a simple switch. By pow...

Speaking about the framerate, how could i lower it so i can do more stuff ? I personally tried to do that but all i got are flickering blocks, just like before... Re: Memory Unit - Worth it?

Well, a working 3DO console goes for 400-500 bucks minimum here in Brazil. And this memory unit I found is costing 230 bucks. As I said, it's costing half the price of one 3DO console. I think I'll buy it anyways. xP That way I'll be able to transfer saves between consoles, that's pretty sweet. xP ...

So i was able to get a first version working properly, a playable alpha is now available for download. That's really cool! I love finding amazing stuff in strange places. I found a widescreen PVM in a shopping cart once! Re: 3DO Doom succesfully compiled (but no way to run it)

I had some troubles to start with. It turns out it doesn't work right if ARM250 and/or 3DODev aren't in the root of the C: drive. Even after editing the .bat and the makefile, the ARM compiler would give some errors. Also, I'm glad to see that ARM SDT 2.5 can actually be downloaded relatively easily...

Hi all, you might remember me from being activeish on the forums around 2013. Now that it's been a little whil...

Really cool topic. This would be interesting to pursue. I'm curious to know if this would be better than just replacing the laser. Is the laser used in the 3DO just a bad/normal quality laser that wears out a bit faster than others from the same era? Would this new laser be better or would it wear o...

I do believe there is a thread about repairing it somewhere, but the laser lens will likely be the culprit and will need replacing. I think someone found a source for these... I can't remember. I also don't know anything about the repair. It's nothing I have ever done before. My FZ-1 just sits in a...
