Austin is somewhat more like California in many aspects than it is like Texas... but they want it like that... their motto is "keep Austin weird!" The other nice thing about Austin is it's pretty much in the center of Houston, San Antonio, and Dallas/Fort Worth... so it's only a couple of hours away...
