Re: My 7 year ban has been lifted!

Since 2014? Um...

Not a whole lot, unfortunately.

Actually, that's probably not true. I only pop in a couple times a year now just to see if anyone's still active.

Welcome back!

Re: Japanese Game Translation "Wish List"

I too would love to see the 3DO version of ROTK IV get translated. Yes, it's on other platforms, but experiencing each console's unique version is definitely worthwhile, as we never know what'll be there until we find out firsthand! I totally agree. While I can look up a YouTube video for compariso...

Re: Review - Total Eclipse

I've been revisiting some 3DO games that I originally didn't care for and as such never put a lot of time into, and Total Eclipse is one of them. Having put a few [near] playthroughs worth in these last few weeks, I will say I do have a greater appreciation for this game now than I used to. An issue...

Re: Review - Blade Force

I'd be surprised if Next Gen actually made it anywhere in the game. I have revisited this game probably more than any other 3DO title in hopes that it will finally "click" with me. It fails to do so every time. It is very impressive for the console and it has held up fairly well visually for the era...

Re: Review - Total Eclipse

Good review. I feel like this game would have been impressive when it was new, but personally I find the gameplay itself and the overall progression of the game to be overly tedious (said as someone who prefers action games over all others). There are some other technical issues as well that detract...

It's the weekend! Fire it back up! Watch some vids of others playing it and let's see how far we can get.. Maybe if it was 2010 and people were actually reading this, then sure. I should reacquire another copy of this game though. I do remember it being the best of the console versions at the time.

Re: Jap FZ-1 Mode A-B switch 240p tests.

I spent a lot of time in the 240p mode the other night and these are the ones that stuck out to me: Out of This World - Game runs twice as fast. It's neat to see but it's pretty much unplayable. It also didn't play the introduction sequence for me. Monster Manor - Game is much snappier. Framerate se...

Re: Jap FZ-1 Mode A-B switch 240p tests.

Thanks for posting about this. I was made aware of the FZ-1's 240p mode via a thread on another forum recently. I checked my system and sure enough, it has a switch. I tried several games on it and for the most part they pretty much play and perform the same. Microcosm however, I experienced what yo...

Neat article. I thought it was obvious it was FMV for the backgrounds, but up to now I personally assumed they still used polygons for the interactive objects. They did a damn-convincing job turning them into 2D assets!

[quote=goldenband post_id=40566 time=1520701788 user_id=773] I found another list that, in addition to the list in the OP, mentions: The Last Bounty Hunter (1995) Policenauts (1995) Zhadnost: The People's Party (1995) No idea whether it's correct, since I don't have a 3DO mouse! Re: Need for Speed on 3DO destroys the other 32-bit versions

It's interesting to look back through this thread all these years later. I recently clocked a lot of time into the 3DO version, yet in my earlier posts in the thread I hadn't clocked much time into the game and didn't really appreciate it that much. Now it's one of my favorites on the system. Once y...

Re: Looking to buy 3do games on here

The marketplace moved to invite-only. Not that it's been active in years though. It would be nice to have an open marketplace for 3DO collectors to buy/sell games. 3DO stuff is drying up (particularly CIB stuff), eBay sellers aren't housing the quantity or the pricing they used to, and 3DO stuff doe...

You've probably already done it by now but in case not, you probably want to check out some YouTube videos and make some comparisons. I hadn't, actually. This is cool. Would you by chance know of reliable, regular sources that provide mod services? I see so many readily-available boards across a variety of platforms but no one can seem to suggest modders that charge to install something like this. I'd like to RGB mod one of my 3DO systems but it's wa...

Some serious thread necromancy here, but has anyone tried out the Saturn or Pippin versions of Shockwave? Do they have the same weaknesses as the PlayStation version? (If so, it seems a shame... Re: Out of this World: 3DO still got it

I dig the 3DO version. My big issue with it though is that it runs way too fast. It makes areas of the game much harder than the original (and not in a good way). The modern remastered versions are the way to play this game now, but the 3DO one is still a good experience too.

It's nothing special, but I picked up a Goldstar system last week. My Japanese FZ-1 is still functional, but since replacing the disc drive it has seemingly lost the ability to play games via.. erm, alternative methods. The Goldstar seems to do it just fine though, so I'm back in business with some ...

Re: Is this the most active 3DO forum on the web?

I think the most logical solution is to try to get the Google spider un-banned. The CD-i forum has no issues with that as it comes up in a Google search, so I don't see why it can't be fixed for the 3DO side. I admire the passion some of you guys have with the want to make a new forum. However, I ha...

You sure about that auto-jump? I do have the manual for the game, and it says you have to tap "up" to do the running jump. Plus, I have successfully run off the edges of platforms. You'll get the hang of it. It takes time but there will be a point where the jumping, platforming, rolling and the gunplay feels natural. It's stiff and rigid, but you get used to it and eventually get into a flow with it. Just a fair warning for the second level, there is an auto-jump mechanic for ...
