Re: 3DO Doom succesfully compiled (but no way to run it)

It would be great! Another problem is with sounds. If I add more than 4-6 sounds, the same freezes occured.
If you need to see how to make own sprites, I'll upload all new sprites with my app and their scripts.

Re: 3DO Doom succesfully compiled (but no way to run it)

Here it's the PACK_orig_REZFILE for making original REZFILE. WAD files from Github differs with lumps in original REZFILE (few items are replaced and so on), so I edited them. As a result we'll get not exact byte2byte REZFILE. If you want to make byte2byte REZFILE, see PACK2. D00** files represents ...

Re: 3DO Doom succesfully compiled (but no way to run it)

That PACK is fully workable. There are all original maps except the first one, which is my own test map. If you have crashes in that pack, try to set Windows XP compability for the WAD utility. I'll upload the WAD util source later so you may generate the binary for your own PC configuration. If you...

Re: 3DO Doom succesfully compiled (but no way to run it)

As I said, there's no matter which types of monsters are on level. It may be all types without SpiderM and we'll have all this freezes. The freezes is less if there are less types of monsters in FOV or nearby. I think that SortAllSprites function do all of this. Can't said in detail what exact in th...

Re: 3DO Doom succesfully compiled (but no way to run it)

I have frequent access to CD drive during this freezes. And yes, sometimes during this game crashed. Perhaps you are right, we have frequent flush of cels. All new cels reaches the sprite limit and flushes starts again. I'm not preloading SpiderM like other enemy sprites. All SpiderM sprites are loa...

Re: 3DO Doom succesfully compiled (but no way to run it)

I think we should move to this thread. Thank you, Optimus, your bar is working! But I think its scale was set incorrectly or sprites are using another memory space (?). Thank you, Optimus! I'll wait your bar. If you need help with some textures/sprites/fonts, I wrote all the converters. Also I made a small font in 3DO Doom format. Maybe it will be useful for you.

Re: How 3D on the 3DO really works... ?

You could compress the sounds to AIFC and stream them off the CD. Of course, it will most likely destroy your drive in the long-term. I think, that's the only way to make it... As for CD-drive, the original game streams music from CD very hard even when volume slider is set to 0. I sovled that issu...

Re: How 3D on the 3DO really works... ?

Welcome aboard, Optimus! I'm adding a new types of monsters and other objects in Doom. I think that at some point RAM became full (some freezes and frequent CD reading occurs). Could you make some kind of progress bar for RAM? It will be very helpful. Now I'm thinking how to use sounds quickly witho...

Re: 3DO Doom succesfully compiled (but no way to run it)

All new objects and their frame delays are corresponding with the PC source and converted to 3DO values. It's strange that speed is different... I didn't edit any of the "speed" functions in the code yet. And, some news: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_kfalvvLLtc https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MAY...

Re: 3DO Doom succesfully compiled (but no way to run it)

My pleasure 8) 1) Finding the correct cel format. I saved many cel files using old Photoshop (and CelWriter plugin). Then I compared saved cels with exsisted sprites using Hex editor. 2) Using a new cel2shp app from Rebecca Heineman. 3) Manually added offsets and X,Y coordinates to all shapes in spr...

You might want to try rubbing the laser with some alcohol, if you have not already done that.
