3DO capacitors
Hey there, recently I came across the German Wikipedia article about the Commodore CD32 (released in 1993) - it said that due to the age, many cd32 units tend to suffer from and take damage by leaking capacitors now. It read to me like there was a certain kind or brand of capacitors built in that ha...

Re: BioForge on 3DO...
Yep, this game had polygonal texturized objects. And, yep, a 486/50MHz didn't do it too smoothly already. I remember playing it (GREAT game, heavily underrated, by the way) on a 486/33MHz, which was already near to the no-fun-border. But let's do the maths: An Intel 486/33MHz CPU gives an output of ...

Re: The Cutting Room Floor: 3DO
This page is actually more about unused but still existing material in games.
Nearly finished levels or sprites that don't appear, for example.
Like what they found in the code of "Twisted" here:
http://tcrf.net/Twisted
Check out the SNES / Super Famicom area of the page - it's amazing!

"Some people say that following my rules makes the games too easy to play. I disagree. What makes most games tough to play is that the puzzles are arbitrary and unconnected. Most are solved by chance or repetitive sessions of typing "light candle with match", "light paper with match", "light rug wi...

Sherlock Holmes is ace. Incredible atmosphere! I remember the door bell thing, and, yes, that was quite annoying. But no big deal anyway. I also remember that the game crashed one time - right before the cut scene, where that guy jumped from the bridge. Next time I tried it, everything went fine tho...

As for dubbing, i once saw a film with Arnold Swarzenegger dubbed to german. Lets just say the voice sounder more like the oposite of what arnold looks like, and it wasnt one of his comedy acts.. That was funny. The funny thing actually is, that Arnold never got asked to dub his own voice - though ...

Though the point where the 3DO is "finished" is never gonna come (decent homebrew which will keep it floating will hopefully come at some point ;-) ), I would go with a Fujitsu FM Towns Marty. Especially the following games would be on my list: - Awesome - Bubble Bobble - Dungeon Master - Indiana Jo...

Anyone else remember the original racketboy article that listed Jurassic Park as the one game that defined the 3DO? :-) Well, some people might think that in a certain way it did! ;-) The screenshots on this page look quite cool - actually better than in reality! And how about that "Maiden Fo...

Re: Wolfenstein 3D
The game does have an auto-map actually ... you access it by hitting the A & C buttons together. Hope it helps, I agree the game is awesome! And A and C together is a rather senseless way to map the function; if you don't do it perfectly then you waste a round of ammo whenever you access the map, a...

Yes, it is secondary - opinion shared! What made me even more confused was that the actual "story" reminded me heavily of that Arnold Schwarzenegger movie "Total Recall"! That's why some German gaming magazines called it "Total Recall - the video game". :-) Anyway, there was an unofficial successor ...

Another thing about the 3DO version that is different from, as far as I know, all other versions is that they paced up the general gameplay speed. Which is good! Everything moves a bit faster, the controls respond a bit quicker - the general speed got increased, what makes the game even better. Oh, ...

As far as Wikipedia says, this thing has a SCSI controller? So native harddisc support? That's nice! :) But, except for 640x480 resolution support, I couldn't get any info about the GPU features - it seems like there is no dedicated 3D support or any other effects? So weaker than the 3DO Cel Engines...
