Re: Japanese Game Translation "Wish List"
I too would love to see the 3DO version of ROTK IV get translated. Yes, it's on other platforms, but experiencing each console's unique version is definitely worthwhile, as we never know what'll be there until we find out firsthand! Koei used a standardized approach to their games, and I'm wondering...

Re: Review - Iron Angel of the Apocalypse
This is a very well-written and perceptive review. Though I'm quite sympathetic to the game (and to the genre of slow-moving robot FPSes in general), I'm probably in the 9% that admires the game's style, but finds it too clunky to be much fun. I don't mind the low frame rate too much, but the lack o...

There are 48, good sir. And they depend on which order you clear the stages in. You also get different "cut scenes" telling you about your civilization's progress depending on stages you chose to complete. 48?! Wow, that's intense. I don't know if I have it in me to replay even a short FMV ...

Re: Recent 3DO Purchases
Agreed with your description of Mazer. At the time it struck me as something like a cross between Smash TV and Shadow: War of Succession. It's a bit janky but very playable. I have fond memories of that game because just as I finished it, my wife got home from a church sale with ~10 boxes of quality...

Re: Russian translation of Pretty Soldier Sailor Moon S
Yeah, it was apparently a minor success in Russia. I don't know whether the leftover stock came from Japan or Korea, but unsold 3DOs seem to have ended up there and attained some degree of popularity. Maybe a Russian-speaking colleague can tell us more?

Russian translation of Pretty Soldier Sailor Moon S
Just discovered that there's also a complete Russian translation of Pretty Soldier Sailor Moon S. Those Russian hackers have been busy!
Sadly it looks to be mostly image-editing work (which is labor-intensive), but it's still good to know that a translation is clearly possible.

Russian translation of D: Director's Cut
As seen here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1TF50Oi0znE
I'm not completely sure, but from what I can tell, not only has the original D been translated and fan-dubbed into Russian, but the Director's Cut has been translated as well. Not 100% clear on whether the translation is complete or not.

Russian translation of Takeru (Japanese-exclusive digital manga)
There's a thread on 3DO Planet with a Russian translation of Takeru, a digital manga release that's not a game per se AFAIK, but more of an interactive comic book. I'm not going to link to the thread b/c romz, but here's a YouTube video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iT9CpyRNdKw It sounds like it ...

Re: The most complete 3DO releases list
Very nice project! I can see some weirdness on the US list of missing discs: Fatty Bear's Draw Show - not released Lemmings 3 - not released on 3DO Lemmings Chronicles, The - not released on 3DO Paddock Note - this is a Japan-only game Puzzle Bobble - this was released in the US, but as Bust-A-Move ...

Jieitai World (Global Defense) & Jiei shōbō katsudō no gakushū
Found myself curious about two not-for-resale releases that seem to be very poorly documented on the Japanese web, let alone the English one: Jieitai World (自衛隊ワールド) aka Global Defense aka SDF World (Japan Vistec Inc.; JV-SP9501) Jiei shōbō katsudō no gakushū (自衛消防活動の学習) aka 3DO TES (3DO Training Ed...

Thanks for posting that Digital Foundry link -- they do great work. I find the full-screen (or near-full-screen) dithering on the PlayStation version surprisingly distracting.

I found another list that, in addition to the list in the OP, mentions:
The Last Bounty Hunter (1995)
Policenauts (1995)
Zhadnost: The People's Party (1995)
No idea whether it's correct, since I don't have a 3DO mouse!

I guess my attachments broke in the board update, and when I tried to re-add them I got a message that the board has exceeded its quota for attachments (?). So here they are again via Tinypic:
EDIT: Well, the Tinypic images are gone, so I've uploaded them to Imgur and updated my original post.

I have no first-hand knowledge, but the old list of 3DO box styles says that it did come with a longbox, classifying it as "4 = Long Box w/ JC or CB holders and 1 or NO inserts". EDIT: Yep, it can be seen at the bottom-right here: https://78.media.tumblr.com/15960791ffd05b68fe8a0f32208fa21f/tumblr_i...

I enjoyed the 3DO version a lot more than I expected -- certainly more than the Sega CD version, which I didn't like at all. But the SNES version is still nearest and dearest to my heart. Excellent -- glad to see both of your replies! :D I agree with Martin III that a game like Short Warp would be nice -- or any game where it's just a matter of replacing a few messages or UI buttons. It might seem minor, but there's a lot of virtue in making a game fully accessible, even if you can s...
