Re: Introduce yourself.

Welcome here, Optimus ! It's quite impressive what you did, seems like you are interested in the retro homebrew scene in general as weel, including the CPC ! Shame that CPCtelera doesn't support PLUS features... You are much experienced than anyone else here so i can't wait to see your future stuff ...

Re: How 3D on the 3DO really works... ?

Phew, finally ! I personally have a hard time with the CEL format, as they are quite unconventional. You could have 10 cels and have the game run at 60 fps... then you add another one and it drops to 25 fps :/ I'm guessing it should run faster if you're using 6-bits CELs (according to 3DO it should)...

Hi BurritoBeans, welcome here ! It's not often that you encounter kids collecting old video games stuff ! (well except for me but i don't think a 21 years old man counts  ) This website was blacklisted by Google so that's why you can't find it, you're not alone. It sucks but what you can do, y...

Re: Gameblabla's Crappy Compilation

What do you think ? How much would you pay for a 3DO release ? Hey, if people are willing to spend over $60 on Plumbers Don't Wear Ties... So this is a disc which would not wear out my 3DO's laser any more than any official 3DO disc, right? I'd willingly put up 40 US dollars for it, myself. Possibl...

Re: Evil Australians - New 3DO game for Ludum Dare

Sweet. Downloaded. Now I just need to remember what software I use to burn ISOs. It's ImgBurn  Download it again from the same link, just in case because Optimus told me it was not working. I pushed an update to it that should fix this issue, hopefully. Burn it and let me know if this works p...

Has anyone played the sequel to this, Fade to Black? I'm pretty sure it was on PC and was on the Playstation. I know, the camera get's annoying, but I wish they would release a reworked version of it with the same storyline. The story was so good I tortured myself through the wonky camera system. W...

Can you just invite him here? Dude, i would like to but Optimus is still waiting for his account to be approved. Can you upload it? Will do it later. btw, Optimus made a 3D game for the 3DO ! It's very simple gameplay-wise but it looks pretty cool. http://ludumdare.com/compo/wp-content/compo2//6057...

i was able to get it running at 60 FPS.

I would suggest you download the new version again.

Evil Australians - New 3DO game for Ludum Dare

Here's my first original release in about 4 years : Evil Australians ! https://gameblabla.nl/img/evil_aussie_title.png Evil Australians is a small game i made for the 3DO, Sega Dreamcast and PCs. It's a platforming arena game made from scratch with the help of my own library, Gameblabla's Wrapper. T...

Re: Is this the most active 3DO forum on the web?

A 3DO subforum on AtariAge would be the way to go but i'm unsure how to convince them to add such subforum... I wish admins & mods would approve new accounts as Optimus was unable to get his account approved due to that. This guy has managed to have 3D working on the 3DO and it's a real shame he can...

Re: 3DO Doom succesfully compiled (but no way to run it)

Nice !

Also, i'm noticing how it runs a little faster compared to, you know, the original game.
Maybe it's just due to the simple map or maybe you sped up your code a bit ?
It would be interesting to try to port a 32X map over the 3DO port just to see how well it would run.

How 3D on the 3DO really works... ?

For a long time, i was wondering how the heck can you do 3D on the 3DO... Looking at the documentation, everything seemed to imply that the CEL Engine inside the 3DO was 2D hardware, rather than 3D... I saw absolutely no references to it supporting polygons in hardware. At first, i thought that all ...

Re: Gameblabla's Crappy Compilation

Hmm... i don't know but in theory, with the 3DO IDE modification and a new firmware for it supporting the OperaFS filesystem, it should be possible to simply plug a new CD-ROM IDE drive and play all your official games. But i don't know if the russians are even willing to do that... Yeah, you might ...

Re: How about porting Sonic the hedgehog to 3do?

You could port either the original or sonic xtreme. I think theres a xtreme dev kit. For Sonic Xtreme, it won't be possible because the current pixel routines for 3DO are very slow. (the 3DO's CEL engine is not well suited for 3D) Plus, the current xtreme dev kit requires OpenGL so it would need a ...

I didn't know you could just use LoadFile and SaveFile to save to the NVRAM... That's good to know ! Might would be interesting to check also the MIDI support. Things that can be improved

If you look at my 3DO homebrew games, you can see they have some issues compared to, let's say, commercial games. That's because the provided examples are pretty poor and the documentation doesn't really help either. For example, 3DO knows that their soundplayer freezes the cpu but they are telling ...

Re: LameNES (NES emulator) for 3DO ?

I've noticed the color table is messed up :P About speed, currently the CPU_execute() call is taking too much time from the CPU, even if the rendering was super fast, there's no way for the poor 3DO cpu to emulate the nes cpu in enough time. lamenes does a simple switch statement, so we can try wit...
