Re: Flashback

I believe saving is done at various kiosks throughout the stages. You probably haven't run into the first one yet. At least, I think that's how it works. It's been a while.

Flashback is, like Prince of Persia and Out of This World, full of trial and error.

(some guy from Id Software claims Wolfenstein 3D and Doom had a 1:1 attach rate on the Jaguar) He's probably mistaken. There are official Atari documents that show official sales numbers, and I believe no game outside of T2K and AVP had more than a 25% attach rate (about 50,000 units of the 200,000...

Re: Is there a way to mark the forums read?

This forum software is kind of archaic..

I haven't figured out a way to mark a specific forum as read without going to every thread. If anyone knows, I'd be curious if there's a way to do it.

Yeah. I guess there is a reason why the term, "collectard", is actually a thing.

Completely. Except for some menus and dialogues, the rest of the game is the same. OK, thanks for the reply! How much would I miss out on, then? For some reason, the North American release is impossible to find on eBay lately. You could have a walkthrough of one of the USA versions by your side, ty...

Re: At long lost, I've found you!

Crash 'n Burn is hard to get into. I remember thinking it kind of an odd one when I first played it, but stuck with it and after a while it just "clicked" and I started tearing through the game. Although, I never did finish it--it gets pretty difficult later on in the game. I need to revisit it on s...

Re: 3DO and Gex sales

It was on Saturn and PS1 as well, so yeah, 1,000,000 copies across 3 consoles seems easy enough to believe. Only issue with this is that by July 1995, the PSX hadn't been released in North America yet, and thus Gex wasn't available on it (I don't think it came to Saturn until a little bit later eit...

I think if you are a fan of the original, the quality is great. Get it. If you weren't, then.. well, you're not missing out on much. If you haven't played it, watch some videos online to see if it's in-line with your tastes. I personally don't care much for that kind of Euro shmup, but people who gr...

I replaced the drive in my FZ-1 and since then it has not been able to read CD-r discs, so I will be unable to test this. Aw man, sorry to hear this. But can it still play official games though ? You might want to try rubbing the laser with some alcohol, if you have not already done that. Sometimes...

They typically sell for more, so that always equated to me as being more sought after than other models.

Neat. Seems like it would redundant though considering US 3DO consoles are fairly common. I wouldn't want to mess with something less common like the TRY. But, hey, at least we know it works now.

There's also a glitch when networked where a player can have music playing in-game at the cost of all sound effects. I forget how to trigger it but a friend and I did it back in the day. Fun times. I'd like to try this updated ROM but sadly Jag consoles are prohibitively costly now, too much so to j...

I don't know. I just figured it was to better match the longbox/retail packaging. It would be interesting to know if there were subtle fixes made as well.

Ha, nice.. I had one of those a few years back. A little uncommon, no doubt. You see the red discs floating around all over the place though, it's like everyone that bought these via retail threw away the boxes or something.

I remember liking the game but didn't give it enough time to get sucked in. I recall one of the things that didn't grab me was that the levels are pretty large and sprawling--it's not as straightforward as a typical top-down, arcade-style shooter. I prefer my shooters like this to be more linear. I ...

Yep, I can vouch for this. This is exactly what happened to my system. Started reading CDrs slower.. and slower.. and.. then it stopped reading all together.
