Re: Gameblabla's Crappy Compilation

What do you think ? How much would you pay for a 3DO release ? Hey, if people are willing to spend over $60 on Plumbers Don't Wear Ties... So this is a disc which would not wear out my 3DO's laser any more than any official 3DO disc, right? I'd willingly put up 40 US dollars for it, myself. Possibl...

Re: Phoenix 3 thoughts?

I've been tempted to get this, since interactive movies are one of the main reasons I got a 3DO. However, after playing the horrendously bad Snow Job, I don't have much confidence in Studio 3DO's ability to do a decent job with the live action FMVs. More crucially, the more I hear about the game the...

Re: Magazine tidbits

Wasn't that UMK3 that was rumored for 3do, not MK3? The Sega Saturn was originally planned to get a version of Mortal Kombat 3, but due to Sony's exclusivity agreement, by the time they were legally allowed to release it, Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 had been out in the arcades for several months. Thus...

Re: PO'ed

30 levels, phew... Not too shabby. It gives me a lot to look forward to. I haven't made much progress since my last post. Two reasons for this. One is that, at one point during "Jump" (level 2), I pushed the button to confirm a save, and instead of saving it booted me back to the title screen. When ...

Re: Flashback

You sure about that auto-jump? I do have the manual for the game, and it says you have to tap "up" to do the running jump. Plus, I have successfully run off the edges of platforms. You use it at this part here and the person narrating the video explains it: https://youtu.be/e3QsF3BzKAo?t=15m46s Tap...

PO'ed

So I've finally popped this game in for a proper playthrough (while still continuing with Flashback). What can I say? It's awesome! Okay, I don't like how your character moves like he's on ice, but it's not hard to adjust to and even on medium difficulty, I've found the game isn't even half as hard ...

Zelda's Adventure

I was doing research on this game for Wikipedia and ran into an unexpected problem: I can't seem to find any evidence that it was ever released in North America. I haven't been able to find any coverage of the game in the major North American gaming magazines of the time (Electronic Gaming Monthly, ...

Re: Magazine tidbits

I dunno if this is something you guys already knew, but it looks like GoldStar was planning on bringing Defcon 5 for the 3DO out in the USA. What you see below is an Electronics Boutique ad from the February 1996 issue of Next Generation. The cover date suggests that the release was likely cancelled...

Who woulda thunk it? A USA magazine (Next Generation, to be exact) reviewed Ghost Hunter Series back in the day. Sadly, I still haven't gotten around to picking up a copy of the game myself, but here's their review: http://i1019.photobucket.com/albums/af317/Martin-III/Magazine%20clippings/Escape%20f...

I didn't even know there were other 3DO forums on the web. Not that it matters, since apart from the recent dearth of activity here, I like this one too much to switch to another.

Yeah, the control style is quite good. It took me a while before I realized that you can actually enter a command while Conrad is still performing another action and he'll immediately follow it once he's finished his first action. Not many games out there where you can do something like that! And sa...

I believe saving is done at various kiosks throughout the stages. You probably haven't run into the first one yet. At least, I think that's how it works. It's been a while. Flashback is, like Prince of Persia and Out of This World, full of trial and error. Thanks Austin. I had thought that saving w...

Very belated thoughtful thanks for the replies, which helped prompt me to seek out this game way back when. Re: 3DO emulator on Android

I can't stand playing games on Android I think the only game that really works with the touch screen is Angry Birds. There's no way I could enjoy controlling through an emulator when I have the real thing. Any American Laser Games light gun shooter would be fine played this way, touch to shoot woul...

3DO at the head of the pack?

It's funny how, when recalling console war history, gamers tend to remember the results as if that was all there was to it. I'm generally an exception to this rule, but I myself was just struck by something pretty obvious that I'd overlooked. I was reading a late 1995 issue of Next Generation in whi...

Re: Is the Japanese version of the game D playable?...

Forgot to mention another D-coincidence: I just recently stumbled on an interesting review for the 3DO version in Next Generation. The review mentions that the Japanese release of the game was an honest-to-goodness hit, and that there was already a considerable following of hardcore fans referred to...

Re: 3DO and Gex sales

(some guy from Id Software claims Wolfenstein 3D and Doom had a 1:1 attach rate on the Jaguar) He's probably mistaken. There are official Atari documents that show official sales numbers, and I believe no game outside of T2K and AVP had more than a 25% attach rate (about 50,000 units of the 200,000...

Re: Is the Japanese version of the game D playable?...

It's kind of funny that this topic came up now, since I just a few weeks ago popped D into my Saturn for the first time in years. Maybe we're all subconsciously in the Halloween spirit? I put it in with the intent of finally getting the perfect ending (which I did, on the second attempt), but I was ...

How about the Saturn? Does that version still go for reasonable prices? I got my copy of it ages ago.

It's worth mentioning that the Saturn and PlayStation versions contain a scene or two which does not appear in the 3DO version.

Re: Copy of ultra rare Dinopark Tycoon for sale on ebay

I find it funny that this game got such a low production run, given that it was put out at a time when 3DO was still playing for the all-in-one multimedia platform title. Maybe they were banking on doing a second pressing once they got a better sense of how much demand there was for the game? Also, ...

Re: 3DO and Gex sales

I've never been able to find reliable total sales figures for the 3DO, though I've seen everything from 1.38 million to 2 million. But there have been non-pack-in games with a 50+% purchase rate among console owners -- I think one of them was a PC Engine CD game, though I can't remember what it was...

Could be, i dont own it on PS1. I think it was out pretty early on Saturn though. The Saturn and PlayStation versions did come out pretty early for those systems, sometime in late 1995 or maybe early 1996. I don't have exact dates, however, they were definitely released after Gex reportedly broke 1...

The main thing I'm hanging on though, is whether or not the NX will play Wii U games (in fact, I bought Xenoblade Chronicles X itself on the day it came out). So I don't know if any of you knew this, but I spend a fair amount of time doing research for Wikipedia. Very cool game for its time. I still haven't gotten around to sitting down and doing a proper play of it. It's a bit hard to get into, which I suspect may have contributed to the general consensus of the time, which was essentially, "Looks great, plays great, but it's just not a stunning enough game...

Re: Recent 3DO Purchases

A month or so ago it occurred to me, "Um, why don't I have a copy of Iron Angel of the Apocalypse?" I first played the game via emulator because, going by its reputation, I didn't think I'd like it. I was just curiously trying it, not planning to invest much time in it. As it turned out, it became a...
