Bingo! They seem to think that bootleggers would buy their games if they couldn't copy them. I've always believed that the guys who copy/bootleg do it because they can not because they specifically want something No gamer minds paying a reasonable price for box art , manuals etc if the games worth i...

Once again some good points both for and against from windowskiller. Yes 2 x cd drives do less work and are less stress than music drives But............. [/quote]And finally, the 3DO filesystem has a very clever design that avoids seeking whenever possible, stressing the mechanics much less than IS...

The main problem is consumers will not pay a premium price for something that really needs to be over engineered Although heat is an issue it doesn't explain why a 3do's cd drive will outlast most music CD drives. I've sighted the example previously of the original blu ray players already outlasting...

I think the british pound's disappearing act is conspiracly aligned to our illustrious moderator forsaking us for the Playstation. Good point though - I thought it was the US who got us all into this mess and yet our Australian Dollar dropped 30% ? Only a couple of months ago it was nearly 1:...

I'll say it again - plumbers as bad as it was - was not as bad as doom! Why do I hear you say? Plumbers was never meant to be anything other than an adolescent boys powerpoint presentation. Doom however had been around for nearly 2 years by the time 3do got it.3do's hardware was full of tricks unava...

Well put! 8) I miss FMV - I think in an effort to shake off the bad memories game producers forgot the good. FMV does have its place when done well - especially as communications on view screens like shockwave and wing 3 - whilst the game is running. This ability was pretty much not available to mos...

I currently own an FZ-1 & Sanyo unit - both are very solid and give me no issues despite their age. I owned a goldstar back in the day and it gave me nothing but greif - the game compatibility issues do exist on the early ones and the ribbon cable constantly pinches between the tray and the motherbo...

Its hard for anything to compare to Alone - other than written text its the only media to have captured Lovecraft's themes intact. I can't think of one movie that truly captured the cthulos mythos as well as this game did. I think many Japanese games can be considered art - I'm quite partial to game...

unfortunately I think that is exactly what happened.I don't think the price was too out there for our market though as we were already paying that sort of money for cd32 , vcr's and high end cd players here. Its a tough one to call - back in those days even the major companies relied on mum & dad (mom & pop - for our US readers) distributors for their products in secondary regions.
