To my pleasent surprise my fiancee who is 12 years older than me and hates video games actually loves to play Twisted with me. We were playing last night, it is great that I can finally share a game with her, of course until the game froze  :x  My wife is 2 years older. As I say: she's r...

I'd assume a 3DO emulator on either of those system is feasible if someone works on it enough. The CPU emulation from FreeDO is top-notch as far as optimization, but the GPU emulation can probably be improved. A lot of emulators for later-generation systems allow disabling of specific graphical emul...

Love (best to least) Star Control 2 (I'm infatuated. I even love the flaws) Immercenary (Unique and polished) Killing Time (I think it's great, except for frame rate) Alone in the Dark (though, somewhat clunky) Star Fighter (too long and difficult, though) Out of this World (hell yeah) Lucienne's Q...

Also, 4DO falls back to non-DirectX rendering (called GDI rendering) if DirectX is not available. You can see if this is happening in the log files created (you will see errors mentioning this). This will help you to see if it is actually using DirectX as expected. If it doesn't use DirectX, the onl...

It's not a true Linux port. 1)I started by using a Ubuntu distro of Linux. 2)Made sure all the drivers I needed were loaded. 3)Installed WINE and updated it, then installed Winetricks. 4)Used WINE and installed 4DO using the windows installed EXE (I would kill for your latest version - even beta ve...

This is a little OT and will sound silly but do you think 4DO could ever be ported & run smoothly on a Dreamcast? Dreamcast would not have the horsepower to do it. There was a XBox port attempted, but the core graphical emulation is too slow. The CPU emulation was actually not the bottleneck like I...

Wow I'm amazed! How did you get this to work? Is it using mono? I'm quite baffled at how you got this running so quickly, since I used quite a bit of windows-specific stuff in the 4DO code. The controller input is definitely one of these cases. I used DirectInput, a DirectX derivative, which also ma...

I don't know what happened with this, but here's an auction I stumbled across. Instant 3DO collection (well, minus any sort of hardware). Lots of complete games, including Star Control, Robinson's Requiem, and more. If I hadn't been forced to take the last two weeks off of work (and thus not gettin...

Heck, I thought it was boring. I like regular chess "enough". Pawns die too frequently for this to hold interest! And the computer sometimes took forever to move! It's true that the cpu in Battle Chess isn't always the quickest. That said, having played several video game versions of chess, I didn'...

Good work dude, those games aren't going to beat themselves! Odd that you mention the game. A couple weeks ago I read an article on Hardcore Gaming 101 about Wolfenstein 3D: http://hardcoregaming101.net/wolfenstein/wolfenstein2.htm (quickly becoming a favorite site of mine). It has a very extensive ...

I'm glad he revisited it. I didn't agree with his original review. It seems like Dragon's Lair clones and Interactive Movie formats were the de facto standard when FMV's were available. It's as thoughtless as 3rd-person-cover-based-shooting today. As far as FMV games go, I think Night Trap and Sewer...

Dude I love this game. Been playing it since the PC days back in the very early 90s! 8) Same here. In my computer class in middle school we had one day each week where we could play games. I would usually rush for Battle Chess. Yea I can't stand Chess, and suck at it, but I can always play Battle C...

Well, I've been playing this game for just four days and I'm already stuck. Of itself, this isn't surprising. One of the distinguishing features of Crystal Dynamics games is that they're tough as nails, and though I've managed to complete most of the games by them I've played, I similarly got stuck...

I am only stating my opinion here and might not reflect anyone elses opinion here... Due to the sour taste left in many people's mouths by the oldergames fiasco, I personally would not like to see those covers live on in any form. No offense to your project and it's team. Maybe someone else will be...

Ah, okay. I was wondering if I should do bundles to save on hassle. It certainly makes for the "junk" nobody wants (ballz, pebble beach golf links, Oceans Below). It looks like I've got some pretty rare (and possibly valuable games) in the box: Drug Wars, D, Virtuoso, Mathemagics. I'm thinking I sho...
