Re: Possible replacement CDrom drive units for FZ-1 (new success

I have been back to this place several times now and everyone there is telling me nobody who does that works here. There's a guy who comes in every now and then and that sounds like him. But this guy worked there. He waited on me. I bought an Xbox 360 controller from him and a Sega CD copy of Jurass...

Re: Possible replacement CDrom drive units for FZ-1 (new success

you guys probably already know this but a guy at my local retro gamer shop said he just replaced the laser pick up on his 3DO with one from a CD player out of a Lexus that works? it was some fancy car I have to get the specifics out of him but he said the information is available on the internet so ...

Re: Sewer Shark

Is there any way an SD card can be made for the 3DO? And perhaps plugged into some port in the back that will load up CD images?

If I we're rich I'd have cd mechanisms remade for the 3D0 so it would never have to die.

3D complexity issue solved in PSX Quake II

Here is a link to the PSX maps converted to PC if anyone is poking at this for themselves. Since they are now in PC format they shouldn't present any new layer to learn if you already understand the PC format. However in them may be clues to how they reduced the complexity and answer the question be...

The Blitter Interrupt Stack

Atari had suggested in one of their developer docs that the way to keep the Blitter (the processor in the Jaguar used to copy textures or draw shaded polugons) busy was to form a stack of commands, and just load them into the Blitter each time it finishes its current operation, so thats what I tried...

Re: DOOM with fixed networking

I am pretty sure Thunderbird optimised Doom completely for the Jag for his own enjoyment. And has probably been through several refinements in the last decade or so.

If we seen a video of it we'd probably crap our pants. 320*240 rez. 30fps. Transparencies.

Whoops my bad. It was ggn. Thinking of soulstar maybe.

You figured out how to compress the levels then decompressed them? Impressive. I know in his original tutorial they were uncompressed.

Oh I thought this was the original ggn hack. I know his only had 12 because they were uncompressed in the ROM.

Maybe with the SD card you can have all the levels you want

Re: Doom Hack videos

The wads in these hacks are uncompressed which is why there's only 12 levels.

I actually found the compression decompression file one time that id used and lost where it was stored.

Re: The Syndicate thread

I just rewatched battle of the ports Saturn vs PS1. https://youtu.be/oLVUJr9FpoA As for all those objects which are bitmaps in my opinion Jaguar would have no problem with that. Other than that I don't see anything mind blowing in the terrain morphing. The Jaguar definitely does something very simila...

And if the PlayStation could keep track of all those objects the Jaguar surely could. The main area the PSX beats the Jag is in throwing textures on the screen. Not in straight processing power.

Re: The Syndicate thread

I don't think that having the processors keep track of things would been what have been a problem if Atari would have been smart and gotten High Voltage Softwares development system. They would have been able to do dual CPUs with the DSP handling sound and helping the GPU out. And I don't think the ...

Something has occurred to me. Mike Diskette tried to give Magic Carpet a go on the Jag and had no luck supposedly. We know the Jag can do textured 3D. HoverStrike etc. Not fantastic but it's there. I think he was overlooking some Jag fundamentals. He did two 2D games(Sydnicate, Theme Park) on the Ja...
