Re: Need help with Japanese 3DO FZ-1
Hrm. Could be the drive motor, if the disc isn't even spinning. Maybe some people here with more experience with the system can give some better advice. I personally would take it apart and see what it's doing (and not doing).

Re: Need help with Japanese 3DO FZ-1
Well then hypothetically it should be working. I'm guessing your laser is shot. Perhaps. Hrm.. does the disc drive spin up with you put a disc in? Do you hear it trying to read? Does it make any weird noises?

Re: Need help with Japanese 3DO FZ-1
Basically you're saying it doesn't play discs at all? Sounds like a bad drive. Can you play a music cd? Also, what country are you in? There's a chance the system isn't getting the right amount of power, if you're using a converter.

Re: 22 Prince of Persia versions
I'm late to this thread, but I finally checked out the video. I've wondered for years which version of the game I actually played back in the day. Turns out it was the SNES version. However, looking at all of them, it's amazing just how good the game looks on every single system. I understand why, b...

Re: Road Rash getting back into it.
I'm a pretty big fan of the Road Rash series, and this one is my favorite. Well, the 3DO-developed version. I put tons and tons of hours into the PC port of it. It is as good, or better, than the original 3DO version. Unlike the Saturn/PSX ports. I used to play it with an flight stick, oddly enough....

Can you provide a picture of the ribbon cable? Chances are it's a fairly standard cable.

Re: Piracy is a crime. Box recreations
Not sure if you guys are familiar with it, but The Cover Project is a great resource for printing your own covers and stuff. I know several people who collect bare cartridges for older systems, buy universal game cases , and print their covers. Look awesome on the shelf. Granted, they aren't "real,"...

Re: ebay - WTF Man
Found an article from 1999 announcing those exact CD-Rs coming out. Also found a thread talking about buying them on sale at Circuit City (RIP) from 2001. So that gives you a timeframe on these discs. Earliest it could've been burned is late '99/early 2000. Which means it was obviously not original...

The search on any phpBB can be hit or miss. Google is always a good backup. You can search within a specific site or forum by typing "site:" with the main url of it. So to search here for your Strahl thread, on Google you'd type "Strahl site:http://www.3do.cdinteractive.co.uk" and you'd be set. I be...

He might not post much, but he must lurk from time to time, as he showed up to my stream (Hi, Gammadev!). I'm new here, so take what I have to say with a grain of salt. But I don't think the name of the forum should make much of a difference in terms of "standing up for the community." It'd still be...

I had a blast guys, thanks so much for coming. Sorry to those that missed it. It kinda happened spur of the moment. Probably going to do another one in the future. I've still got plenty games to try. I'll let you guys know further in advance, hopefully.

Re: Panasonic M2 Game console
I ran into something similar to this a few years ago. A guy had a copy of a thought-to-be-lost album of a band I'm a fan of. He just sort of lorded it over us. Even went so far as to do a cover of one of the songs on it, saying it sounded pretty close to the real thing. So we'd "get an idea." Eventu...

Speaking of the mouse, I did some searching and no one on the forum's really talked much about Syndicate on the 3DO. I imagine that game is annoying without a mouse. Or is it? Does it even support the mouse? Hrm.

Re: Best story on the 3DO?
Well.. I think the marketing of the publisher plays a big role. And whether or not the publisher itself is a big name. And who they're able to get the book to and actually convince them to read it/review it. On top of all of that stuff, the tipping point the Da Vinci Code specifically had was the Ho...

Re: Best story on the 3DO?
Since you like the Beast Within so much, let me share a little something with you: I've never played the game, but I watched an entire longplay of it on YouTube just because the story riveted me so. I later recommended this longplay to my sister, a non-gamer who was studying German, and she says sh...

Re: Japanese fz1 pal game compatibility issue?
Rather than continue discussing this in the introductions thread, figured I'd bump this. Right, so, I tried a burned copy of the PAL version of Alone in the Dark on my Japanese FZ-1, on an NTSC television. I get the same results you mentioned. It just loops the intro logos. So there you have it, it'...

Excellent. Thanks for the suggestions guys. Question: About Wing Commander III, does it require you to have played the previous games to completely understand and get into the story?
Also, Austin I've got a great movie you should see.

Best story on the 3DO?
Stories in games are a big thing for me. It's part of the reason I play games - to actively take part in a story. Some people seem to think having an excellent story in a game is a "new" thing, mostly relegated to the last decade or so. That's total crap. Some people also think FMV games can't tell ...

I highly doubt I'll ever randomly come across a PAL copy of AITD, but I'll try a burned one at some point. Have you tried that? I'm curious to see the difference in screen ratio (assuming the game works).

Re: Introduce yourself.
Hello, peoples. I'm just a random dude from Ohio, United States. Wanted a 3DO for what seems like an eternity, and one is finally on its way to me through ebay. Probably should've gotten one years back, but other things always seemed to take priority. Regardless, finally going to get my hands on one...
