Death Rally
Quote from Wikipedia: "In May 2009 programmer Jari Komppa got in contact with Remedy, volunteering to prepare an open-source release of Death Rally. While releasing the game as open-source could not be agreed upon, Komppa instead started working on porting the game to modern Microsoft Windows system...

AMIGA "Super Cars"
Hi folks, does anyone remember the top down racing game "Super Cars" on the Amiga system? Definitely a classic and *great* music. Some people in France did a remake for PC called "Super Cars 3", which I've just found - absolutely worth a try! http://jotd.pagesperso-orange.fr/supercars3/snapshots/ind...

I've found this video on youtube in which someone switches the PCB of a PAL machine with a NTSC PCB, using the same (PAL) transformator. He also mentions that on the NTSC PCB there is a third plug somehow for transformators. But the board seems to work fine as well without any connection! http://www...

Transformator cables FZ-1
Hi guys,
in my NTSC 3DO FZ-1 there are 3 cables connecting the transformator
with the PCB - 2 of them are supplying stepped down AC with approx.
15 Volts.
What is the single 3rd one for?
In my PAL machine, this 3rd cable is totally missing!

Jones

VCD Device
Hi guys, here in Germany at eBay is from time to time a VCD device for sale. The thing is that it's a device for the 3DO FZ-10 and I own a FZ-1 model. I was wondering... Mechanically this FZ-10 device surely won't fit to the FZ-1, but how about the pcb itself if taken out of the plastic shell? Does ...

Lost files of Sherlock Holmes
Hi guys, I am currently playing this Sherlock Holmes adventure - what are the general opinions concerning this game? I kinda like it - nice atmosphere, decent dialogues, only the music annoys a bit and the gameplay tempo could be a bit faster. Interesting: I remember that I've checked this game out ...

Hm... And if the Jaguar version was really that good, why didnt it help the platform either? Just because of the lacking sound? Putting the question other way round: I still dont quite get, why the Jaguar version is said to be that good! Just because of fullscreen at a sensible framerate? Okay, but ...

What I've realized all the years looking at the console comparisons between the Jaguar the 3DO and probably also the CD32 is, that there were made many "mistakes by category". Calling the Jaguar a 64Bit system would be the same as calling the NeoGeo or the Sega Genesis a 32bit system. (The MC68000 C...

Thumbs up, man! :) Am currently working with a graphic artist on some material that is meant to be a little graphic benchmark for the 3do someday. When it all will be finished, ambitious coders would be very welcome! ;) It's supposed to be a simple 3D scene with some simple objects and the camera "f...

The power of the ARM 60 CPU at 12,5MHz is said to be comparable to a Motorola 68030 CPU at 25MHz. Doom worked out in a good playable way fullscreen on AMIGA computers equipped with a 68030 CPU at 50MHz - but without any 3D accelerating co-processors the 3DO actually has. Due to all this I am convinc...

Just got a first closer look at the 3DO Bouncing Ball demo: That's amazing! And you know why? Well, it may not look very spectacular at first sight, but there's a lot you can read in it: - 16 bit colours - polygons - objects are pressure-forged when touching the ground - texturemapping - shading - l...

One thing about MIP Mapping I didnt get so far: Is this a technique to make things faster (only handle textures with the least required resolution) or is it an optical improvement which makes things in fact slower (handle more textures than basically required)? Has there ever been a hardware support...

Compatibility-issues are interesting. I've heard of some games that are said not to work on Goldstar models. But I am really wondering why? I thought, each model was built using the same given technical specifications and plans, provided by the 3DO company. Okay, the PCBs look a bit different, but t...

Assembler?
Hi folks, somewhere I've heard that it's not possible to write programs in assembler code for the 3DO - true? And if so, why? (Anyone fancies to write an assembler code Doom engine, using the Doom2.wad, the music of 3DO Doom 1 and include a link option via the expansion port...? :) ) Best regards, C...

Hi guys! :) I've got 2 questions I'd be very glad to get some answers for - couldn't find any in the internet yet! :-( The thing is, I bought a NTSC FZ-1 to replace my old PAL FZ-1 I used before - and I consider the old PAL machine now to be some sort of depot of replacement parts. At first sight I'...

Hi Folks! :) I've been an 3do enthusiast for 10 years now, watched the machine's development since it's release in 1993.
