Re: Jag DOOM networking

Does the Catbox offer compatibility for straight system link gameplay, ala the Jaglink (i.e., one console to one console)? I was under the impression it was used mainly for multi-console networking (3+) and thus DOOM might not recognize it since it probably uses different protocols. I am probably wr...

Haha.. I don't know. I would need a Pro Controller for one. And a Jag CD at that, so.. Yeah. It would be a while, if I ever did get around to it.

Re: Probe, the lowest bidder?

I mainly use Chaos. If you want to try to mess with him, this is my bread-'n-butter combo when done right (although you're going to have to figure out what it means, because I completely forgot what acronyms PR uses for its high punch/low punch, low kick/high kick, etc). Jump in -> low kick (while i...

I was actually playing this last month. It seemed pretty easy to me. Not all that entertaining, probably a game best in multi-player.

Re: shareware Heretic for the Jag

Doom in its entirety has been ported and re-ported to damn near every system except the Jaguar. I think it was just interpersonal drama. With no one else around anymore to aim their drama guns at they turned on each other. Incorrect. Shareware DOOM is ported, then people that want the full thing ha...

Re: shareware Heretic for the Jag

Heretic shareware they shouldn't need permission as long as it is distributed freely. However, charging for it without permission is where things can get sticky. If they wanted to do the full game, they would likely need a license to do so. Heretic should be owned by Zenimax/Bethesda, who now owns i...

Re: Probe, the lowest bidder?

I'll do more research but I'd have to call the Jaguar version a 'perked up' Genesis version. I can't even really say its souped up. The Saturn version is friggin beautiful. No, that title goes to the 32X version. Look that one up. It's barely improved over the Genny port. The Saturn one is nice. No...

Yeah, quite a few times. Learn some lengthy combos and you should be able to do it too. Although it's going to be harder on the Jag unless you've got a Pro Controller handy.

Re: Probe, the lowest bidder?

"Quick Kill" is a bonus that is awarded when you finish a round in less than 10 seconds. "Total Domination" is a similar bonus that's given for meeting other requirements. Basically, it's just points, which is important if you are playing the game for a high score.

Re: Probe, the lowest bidder?

No I don't agree that the ram comparison is moot. The ram size is comparable. Bus speed is different. Size is moot, when taking into consideration different speeds, types and other factors. I could give probe the benefit of the doubt if it wasn't a rush job. We have no concrete proof it was in fact...

Re: Probe, the lowest bidder?

Really? Are there not games with big 2D sprites on them for the 3do? Those sprites are only a little bigger than the 16 bit versions. You're forgetting there is still a lot of frames of animation in those small sprites (which the 16-bit and 32X versions mostly lack). Your comparison of RAM with the...

Yeah, the Wii U game lineup at E3 was somewhat impressive. My only complaint is that most of them aren't releasing until 2015, but at least we will have Hyrule Warriors, Bayonetta 2, and Smash Bros to look forward to this year. I am still enjoying my Wii U. Although, I have been tempted (just to hav...

Really great info all around! I am one of those who have a big problem with the flippers on Ruiner (I play tons of real pinball now, so it especially bugs me these days, haha). Re: Probe, the lowest bidder?

With Probe, it was probably a case of having too much on their plate on top of having to rush their projects to meet deadlines. I don't recall Primal Rage on the 3DO being much better than the Jag version. TBH, they were more or less the same thing if I'm remembering right. The framerate might be a ...

People enjoy Pinball Fantasies over Ruiner? I can't get into PF and I feel like the tables are really empty. I'm not the biggest pinball guy though, so maybe that's why I like Ruiner more. Still, nothing beats Crue Ball on Sega Genesis for pinball games! PF is much truer to real pinball, and people...

Check to see if there is a source port available for the Build Engine, like there is for the DOOM and Quake engines. Something like this will allow you to run it on modern hardware without DOS BOX (which can be a pain to deal with), and these source ports usually have more intuitive/streamlined cont...

Yeah I remembered that is where I got it is from Steam. I got it confused with my purchases from GOG. I got BLOOD from GOG. Which for some reason I never could get into. I'll give it another try.
