Any other Analog Recording enthusiats?
Greetings, people of 3DO Zone! Some of you may not know this, but I am a GIGANTIC analog recording nut. I own numerous various analog recording and playback devices for audio and video, including LaserDisc players, VCRs, Compact Cassette decks and even vinyl record turntables. I had a very good Chri...

This kinda reminds me of the whole Net Neutrality thing that's going down here in the states. Over here, we have corporate interests funding both sides of the debate, and being represented by technologically illiterate politicians who think the internet is just another entertainment service, like ca...

Metal Head is a pretty good 32X game, though I've only played it at a friend's house. Also, I would invest in a Mega CD, simply because it has a few decent games, plus you get to claim you have the unholy amalgamation of a console that is the Sega Mega Drive 32X CD. *whew* Android Assault and Popful...

^^ Wow, we've all gone WAY off topic, haven't we... not that I'm complaining, mind. Anyway, Sega has had its own batch of revolutionary ideas that just couldn't hack it, not that it ever got them anywhere... There was the Activator, for all it was worth... very interesting concept, 'cept the executi...

Personally, I think the worst designed controller of the 32-bit era had to be the Nintendo 64 controller. It's big, awkward, and the control stick is right in the middle of the pad where my thumb can barely reach. Same goes for the Z button. What confuses me is how it got such rave reviews from the ...

Personally, I think the 32X (with some changes made to the architecture) was the route Sega should have gone during the 32-bit era. The Saturn, powerful as it was (and freaking AWESOME as it was. Still my favorite retro console of all, with 3DO a close second), was complicated and 'SPENSIVE. The 32X...

3DO vs. 32X CD!
What hath science wrought! As of a few days ago, I'm now the proud owner of perhaps the most ungodly amalgamation of both fail and awesome in gaming history. Amid its nest of wires, on a shelf in my bedroom, is a device I henceforth dub The Creature. This Frankensteinian creation consists of a Sega ...

Ooh! Ooh! *flails hand* Anyway, bad news, as I expected something's effed up inside the player. I suspect it's just 30 years worth of dust, but the electronics in this thing are so complex I'm hesitant to take it apart. It's uses a helium laser tube. That sh*t is delicate. Or, wouldn't it be great i...

Weird Asian foodstuffs aside... My epic final boss battle would start as a space battle, ala Mobile Suit Gundam. My rival and I would first duke it out in giant robots in space while our respective factions fought around us, and then we would descend into an O'Neil Cylinder-type space colony. The ro...

Really, really sorry to necromance an old topic, but I have some extraordinary news. I NOW HAVE A VP-1000 !!!1! Released in 1980, it was pretty much the second ever LaserDisc player, after Phillips released the format and first player in 1979. It's a BEAST, it must weigh at least 30 pounds! My dad f...

Two words. Open bar. ... Seriously though, I think a good business practice would be having a system set up to let people test their purchases before buying them. Quality assurances are all well and good, but it's best to be sure, especially to people who have been burned in the past by broken games...

Dinosaurs for Hire for the Sega Genesis. It's a run-n'-gun shooter, similar to Contra, based off an obscure comic book that only ran 21 issues, which begs the question of how it merited a video game. In any case, it's not a bad game, and I recommend it for anyone who likes the genre.

And this, dear friends, is why I only collect pre-PS2... The entire concept of online play and down-loadable content on consoles is fundamentally flawed, and nobody in the mainstream media seems to be able to see it. Now, these games work GREAT in the short term. The VERY short term. As long as the ...

Sounds about right. TurboDuos aren't exactly thick on the ground, and they're more desirable than the standard TurboGrafx. There are only a handful of games for the Turbo CD I'm interested in, though, so it's not REALLY a priority for me at the moment. I AM, however, desperately searching for a Turb...

So, fellow collectors, as of two days ago I am pleased to announce I have acquired a TurboGrafx-16, finally completing my collection of all the major players in the 16-bit wars. Makes meh HAPPEH. I got it for $89 at the "local" (and by that I mean an hour away, New Hampshire is a DEAD ZONE for retro...

Ahhhh THQ. I don't think I've EVER seen them produce an even half-decent game by themselves. Ever. They feel they're getting screwed over by the resale market? Well, I have no sympathy. Also, woe betide those who show disdain toward the collector market. Not that I care much. Most THQ games I wouldn...
