The 3DO Goldstar controller is truely great - for me, it's definitely the
way to go and absolutely the best 3DO thing produced by Goldstar.

Messerschmitt! Yes, nice! :) But, though Messerschmitt is a combination of 2 German words (Messer = knife, Schmitt = Smith), it's basically more a name than a regularly used word in German language. Probably comparable to an English surname like "Cunningham" or something like this. (Which also has a...

PS1 games on 3DO?
Alright, another one of those "theoretical questions":
Which (early) PS1 games could also have been realized on the 3DO?
I vote for "GTA".
And I also would love to see "Wipeout" on the 3DO. Even if it runs
only at 3.5fps, just to see, how the 3DO would do it in direct comparison.

Recently I've read an article saying that we already reached the maximum brain-power possible. The thing is: the brain itself would be able to run at a higher "processing speed", but it would need more energy for that. And our bodies can't provide more energy for the brain. So we are finally all lik...

The "Intro-Phenomenon"
Back in the middle 90s, a game intro seemed to be somehow an indicator for the overall quality of the game. The longer the better! I remember magazines advertising for games with the length of their intros. I was *amazed* by the cinematic intro of "It came from the desert", delighted by the whole li...

Pimp my laptop
Hi guys, I am planning to make my laptop a bit faster and decided to buy a new HDD. Has anyone any experiences with those flash memory hard discs? How fast do they really are in comparison with a normal SATA hdd (boot-up speed, data transfer rate,...)? Also I've noticed now, that there are hdds with...

General Chaos Mega Drive / Genesis Wikipedia called it a "real time tactics" game, but it's more of a military amok battle. You gain control of a 4-soldiers-group, each one equipped with a different weapon, controlling one at time, and you can hide behind buildings or simple sand-bags avoiding enem...

Blackthorne - SNES In all other countries but the USA known as "Blackhawk", this platform shooter could be considered as a sort of Flashback light. It takes place in an "ancient future" and combines platforming and shooting with basic adventure elements. It also adds some sort of 3D dimension since...

I am experiencing more and more serious problems with visualizing my personal emotions properly on this forum. The normal smiling smiley actually looks a bit evil. I wouldn't trust him. The tongue-out smiley looks rather more like someone who suffers from seriously inflamed lips, possibly an allergi...

Shouldn't be a problem on all AGA chipset Amigas (A1200 & A4000). Except for the CD32 games utilizing the CD32's "Akiko" custom chip, but I only know of one: Microcosm. Some other CD32 games are basically designed for the old ECS chipset (Superfrog, Defender of the Crown, ...etc.), so those games sh...

I never managed to get into either Cannon Fodder or Syndicate on the 3DO. I played them both to death on the Amiga but the Dpad implementation never worked for me on the 3DO. The dpad is indeed a bit clumsy for those games. Wasn't there also support for the 3DO mouse? And... if I used a SNES pad ad...

I always liked "Seek & Destroy" - does someone know that game? Beneath a Steel Sky was declared freeware by the developers in 2003 and can be downloaded with the speech pack at the "ScummVM" homepage. Runs fine via Scumm on Windows, MacOS, Linux and Amiga! I remember an official "Gremlin" compilatio...

This is fantastic! :) So the 3DO has actually 3 processors to possibly do 3D calculations: - 12,5MHz ARM60 (32bit) - 12,5MHz NTG maths-copro (32bit) - 25MHz DSP (16bit). (plus, finally, the 2 CEL engines for the end-rendering and effects) The Arm CPU outputs (as far as I know) 10 MIPS of power. Do y...

It is fairly loud, but more because of the architecture of the shell (*EDIT*: "case", sorry!), causing noisy air-flows. I once replaced the fan - but didn't find one which uses the exact voltage of the original fan (9V, if I recall correctly). I took a standard PC fan which is supposed to work with ...

Liberation? Interesting! I never played it, but it got only average critics in German magazines. Despite that I hear quite often that Liberation was actually a very good game and it is frequently quoted as "the CD32 exclusive title by Tony Crowther". Maybe I should have given it a try! :) Simon the ...

Best CD32 games?
What would you guys say are the must-haves for the CD32 console? I would say... 1. Superfrog (best Jump'n Run ever!) 2. Alien Breed II (great atmosphere, better than the 3rd part) 3. Lotus Trilogy (Lotus 2 was the best racing game of the early 90s) 4. Worms (very funny multiplayer party game) 5. Ben...

This is very interesting, thanks for the info! :) This makes me remember a discussion long time ago on the FreeDO forum. It was about MP3 decoding on the 3DO - someone said that with the use of that DSP, the 3DO could theoretically be able to decode MP3s in realtime. (Though it would require "the he...
