I'm doing the prework for getting Frog Feast on the 3DO.

Alright, I got this working... The left button extracts the contents of a 3DO CD or ISO while the right button creates an ISO. That's kind of the opposite of what the labels imply, but hey, whatever works. :) Did you get this to recompile an iso? It continues to increase the size of the iso, until ...

Re: Questions for OlderGames

Did you get a 3DO development environment up and working? Or would you avoid the official SDK because it includes copyrighted code? Yep, I got it set up under Basilisk II. I would probably use the SDK, since it seems pretty straight forward. Once MESS 3DO emulation progresses to the point of being ...

Try to convince him that you're a long lost relative. See if you can get invited to his house, to check out all the goodies he may have....

And, snag me a testing station while you're there. :)

I've considered developing it for the 3DO, just not sure if there's a demand for it.

This is prob a little late in the game but I believe I have some 3DO developer stuff somewhere. Never used it as I don't have a MAC. It might be something you guys already are using but if I can dig it out I could upload the contents somewhere. If you're talking about the portfolio and devkit stuff...

Did you noticed the printf's in the program are displayed in the debug.fz10.mes file on the C:\ drive? (The names probably changes based on the bios used, I'm guessing). Printf debugging, it doesn't get much better than that. I'm using Freedo 1.9, a patched FZ-10 bios and, the cdrom.image you posted...

The systems can stay right where they are. I'm going to haunt the place. :) Maybe I'll have more time to play them, when I'm dead.

Imagine a scene where you see game systems floating through air, and connecting to a TV at all hours of the night.

I just stumbled on the patched 3DO FZ-10 bios, I wonder how hard it would be to swap out the bios?

OnSide looks like it's aged well. Does it play as smoothly as it appears to in the video capture?

It's the one I'm looking forward to snagging!

Indeed, it is. It's the one Gir Draxa burned and ran on a testing station. (Video on page 2.) Awesome job in getting this working. I initially tested the file in what I thought was 1.7 WIP, turned out I had 1.8. Once I switched to 1.7 it worked fine. I'll have to dig into this more over the next we...

Oh, I gotcha. Yeah, I used 3.5 and was able to compile the examples, no problem. I also used MPW for creating the CD-ROM image. If you're using the SDK, there's a "laytool" in the "cdrommaster" folder. I just followed the instructions in the "Preparing Simple cdrom.image Files" document (DevDocs/pp...

I meant Macintosh Programmer's Workshop.

I tried 3.5 (the latest), and it was able to compile the examples.

What program did you use to build the CD?

There is a version of FreeDO that plays unencrypted ISOs, and I was able to get demos running on it. Unfortunately, there's some kind of bug in FreeDO that prevents it from reading input on my system and I can't actually play anything (it does this weird thing when I try to configure the controls w...

I never had much luck getting C programs to work with cygwin and GNUARM. The only programs I got working with that setup were ones written in assembly. I didn't really give it much effort, though. I moved on to the actual SDK running under a Mac emulator (there is no Windows-native SDK). For some r...

Do the disks work under FreeDo? I thought there was a version of FreeDo that played unencrypted demo (version 1.6.2 or 1.7)? I just did a search (http://www.retrogames.com/cgi-bin/wwwthreads/showpost.pl?Board=retrogen&Number=79955&page=8&view=ex&mode=flat&sb=2) and found that 1.7 WIP plays unencrypt...

Re: Introduction

Hiya Charles, thanks for joining. I'll be honest I hadn't seen that before. What issues did you run into with 3DO? The GCC compiler generated data was out of alignment. I didn't have access to a debugger to see what the problem was. The lack of true hardware documentation prevents using any of the ...

Introduction

Hi, I'm Charles. You may have seen some of my previous work: Frog Feast ( http://frogfeast.rastersoft.net ) Saturn/PSX/N64 Sporting Clays ( http://releases.emuvibes.com ) and countless other developments for Arcade, Consoles, and computer systems. I attempted to start Frog Feast for the 3DO, but ran...
