It's been a while since I played. One of the bosses was like a rat I think and there were like rockets with lit fuses everywhere. I could never understand what I was supposed to do and ended up getting exploded by those rockets all the time.

The Golden Age is different to me. For me, it's more like the golden hardware maker :P The PS1 had a plethora of 3D action games that have aged very poorly. It sure does and it's a pretty good game. The beginning is frustrating for a while. Keep killing the weakest n00bs and taking in their power source. Run back to town when you're low on energy. Once you're strong enough to take on the first boss, yes the game becomes playable.
