Hi from Scotland. I'm 40, dead keen mountainbiker and motorbiker, Sega Saturn UK moderator and soon-to-be 3DO owner. I just bought privately a Panasonic 3DO with Road Rash and can't wait to get my mitts on it. The 32-bit era is/was my favourite and is what I spend most of my time playing, though I do have a 360, PS2, Xbox, Dreamcast and (up til two weeks ago) Gamecube.

I like racing games most, but my all time favourite game is Golden Axe.

Hello

Hello, and welcome aboard.
If you like racing games you've got a good one there with Road Rash. Give Need for Speed a go if you get the chance as well.
Good to have you here, and enjoy your stay.

Not a good start :x

I get home from work today, check my emails and there's one from Paypal saying I've had a complete refund for my 3DO purchase. I PM the seller and it turns out that the 3DO he was sending me is now 'not working'. He says it boots then freezes after 2 minutes. I never heard of any of my machines doing that. Maybe it's a Panasonic thing?

I dunno, seems a bit fishy to me. Just a gut feeling, but now the situation is I have no 3DO machine to look forward to in the new year and I wouldn't pay the unscrupulous eBay rogues the ridiculous prices they want. The seller I bought the machine from on another forum was letting me have it for £40 delivered with one game. The machine was unboxed. I'll probably still lurk here a bit to gain a bit of insight into what looks to be an intriguing, if elusive machine. :?

So the hunt continues...

Wow, that really stinks...tough break, man.

HA! All is not lost. (maybe)

I'm currently negotiating another machine from another forum. Updates to come.

I hope it's worth it after all this hassle 8)

I remember back in the day only the super-rich kids had a 3do. There were only 2 I knew of in my home town. We had our Megadrives and Super Nintendos, then as you know the whole cheap-ass Playstation thing happened and we all either got Saturns (yaay!) or a PSX. Our local games retailer's 3DO shelve space seemed to diminish by the day, but I still remember the CD jewel cases on the wall in Electronics Boutique. The 3DO seemed to get forgotten about in my neck of the woods.

Until now - 15 or so years later.

On the bright side, atleast he refunded your money, so you didn't get totally ripped off.

I did not know a single person with a Saturn growing up...infact, I've never even seen one in person (but I just bought one on ebay :D), Everyone in my area had N64s and PSXs.

I'm stoked about it! I wasn't allowed to have one when I was a kid.

Welcome!
Glad to hear that you have a 3DO on the way!
The Saturn was reasonably popular here in Australia and I played my friends unit to death ( Daytona & Virtua Fighter)
Unfortunately it seemed for a long time that only the guys at Sega could milk the tacked on processor.
I find that the Saturn had a few gems gameswise and that its successor the Dreamcast was very underrated.
Good luck and we're here if you have any questions!

I'm a big DC fan too. I've had mine since launch day, but I never bonded with it like I did with my Saturn. I'm an old Sega fanboy at heart, I guess.

The Dreamcast is the only way to get a true Sega arcade fix and a little taste of that old Genesis action. But...

Since this is a 3do thread, it is a great system to own. Many awesome titles.

I can't wait to pick up Radiant Silvergun for my Saturn. That's the only game for the console that I know is good. Shame it's an import

The Dreamcast wasn't so much underrated as it was poorly timed. Sega definitely had a great system there, but they had already lost all credibility after the Sega CD, 32x and Saturn. That combined with the fact that Nintendo and Sony had already confirmed their next generation systems were on the way...

Surely it's possible to enjoy more than one console? :D

It's even better than people say. If you buy a copy you'll need a cart for playing it, like Game Key. Or you can make a disc image and modify it to be for US, but you'll need to do the CD swap trick which from what I hear is a pain if you don't have the first run console. Lucky for me that's the one I liked the looks of. Yeah I buy for looks, don't judge me for it.

Erm. Excuse me Madam but I believe the Playstation, on the Internet, is very much under-rated. And to be fair, the DC is teeny-tiny bit over-rated. Just a touch.

Indeed it is.
