I checked the tech post, but it didnt mention what my 3DO is experiencing.

When I power it on, the 3DO logo flashes, then goes away. Theres no asteroid animation or anything, just black.

CD's will not spin/load either.

Im not sure whats causing this, seems like more than just a gear.

Check the ribbon cables inside...maybe sth is not connected right.

Oh man I had this a few days ago on my FZ-1. Freaked me out. I hadn't used it in about 4 months then I turned it on to play 3 hours of Jammit and experienced the same problem you're having.

I reconnected all external connections but that didn't seem to do anything.

The console was dusty so I just so happened to clean it up a bit and coincidentally it started working again. I was incredibly surprised.

But I fear your solution may require more drastic methods.
