FZ-1 Case Top.

Post by Jugger » Tue Mar 24, 2009 11:52 pm

I noticed that the 2nd 3DO I just got has a different style top on it (the part that has "Panasonic" engraved on it.

My original FZ-1 had a dark, glossy metallic looking case top, I thought they were all like that. But after looking at others for sale, and the one I just got, these are all different.

These have more of an artificial marble/stone look, and its dull with no gloss.

Did they create different cases depending on the year?

I think we looked at this before and the resounding answer was 'dunno'. However, having taken a few apart now, the glossy ones have thicker plastic, ergo the dull ones are cheaper. Well, that's my guess anyway.

Glossy is the reduced $500 model versus the original $700 chipset. Another thing to look at is booting up when it shows you to put in a CD, some have a silver disc (original) and the later ones have the colored discs. However some of the $700 may have the colored disc as well. And yeah there was a post with pics of the front, top and all that stuff.

Sorry, I had to edit: I wrote non-gloss in the wrong place.
