The place where I got my 3DO

I think these stores were open just long enough to sell me my 3DO, then go bust immediately afterwards. The picture, I believe, is actually of the Burton-Upon-Trent store (Like Bass Beer? Same place :) ) if it's not, then this place is identical.

(I can almost see myself scampering out of here clutching my 3DO, my copy of Total Eclipse and Super Wing Commander. All trembling with excitement.)

Mine came from a little independant gaming store in a shopping mall in Canberra (nation's capital) which was the nearest major city to me at the time at just 5 hours drive! Sadly the store no longer exists
It was a Goldstar NTSC that the importer changed to 240V - it was cheaper than importing the UK version which was already 240v and PAL !

I bought mine from Babbages about 5 months after the initial release. I also remember wanting a NEO-GEO but held out for the 3DO.

I got mine at a local shop here in Murfreesboro TN called Game Trader. I usually go in there browsing for Sega CD games, when I saw a 3DO hidden behind the counter (not on shelf). I asked how much it was, and he said it was $60. It didn't come with a controller, but it came with Demolition Man, Shockwave, Need for Speed, and Road Rash.

I feel like I got a pretty good deal for a brick&mortar store that usually overcharges people.

Although not as good as the deal I got for in-box virtual boy for $45.

I got my 3DO Christmas of 1994 from a local chain in Pennsylvania called Video Game Exchance (later renamed to It's About Games) I think the company went under around 1999.

It was a cool little store. I worked for them in 1999. Sadly...it didn't last long as they went under. Was a sweet first job though.

I got mine at Babbage's or EB, I don't remember which. The price drop made it too appealing to pass up anymore, especially after playing Gex at a friend's house. So I got it with Gex packed in, and I also bought Need for Speed, Road Rash, and Way of the Warrior to go with it. Boy did I ever play the heck out of those games, especially Need for Speed. My favorite thing to do was watch the replays. I had some classic crashes!
