Policenauts english patch is out (PSX version)

Post by Mobius » Sun Aug 23, 2009 9:10 pm

FYI, the PSX version of the Policenauts english patch came out today. Wonder if we'll ever get a 3DO version? I'm not holding my breath, but I'd at least like to see a Saturn version, since it has a few differences.

THANKS FOR THE UPDATE!
(and because this is a long time waiting and semi if not directly 3DO related I'll leave it here for a bit)

I'd imagine a Saturn version will also come out. If I recall, I think they started work on the Saturn version first?

I'd really love to see a 3DO version. I believe they planned on doing them all, however the 3DO version was going to be done last.

This is great news for sure! I'm gonna have to check this out!

I just picked up a copy from NCSX, sealed....should ship today

I know its not patchable, but I'd perfer to stumble through the 3DO version first before the patched PSX version (plus I dont have a modded system either)

There's also a playstation emulator that will play the patched version of Policenauts just fine from what I read on the website of the people who did the translation

I got it up and running nicely, but I've convinced myself I want to play Snatcher before Policenauts. And I've convinced myself that I need to get a Justifier gun and an S-video mod for my X'Eye before I play Snatcher. It could be a while. :)

I also bought one of those Justifier guns for playing Snatcher. Problem was that one uses it so infrequently during the game and also I found it to be very innacurate. IMO it's better and simpler using the controller.

Regarding that s-video that you mention- I bought one of those XMD units and tried it out. The clarity via the s-video output is obviously less blurry and I prefer it.
I did some comparison pics of composite and s-video.

The last couple pics are of the Sega CD game- 'Flashback'

Try running s-video to an upscaling dvd player and set the resolution to 1080i. Very nice!

So who on these forums is going to do the grunt work for a 3DO Policenauts patch?

Also, who is going to buy me a copy of Policenauts so that I can play this PSX patch? The rent ain't cheap around here ya'know

Go for it, I'm spending mine on part of a new LaserDisc player. We could be homeless together!
