Extensive list of things you can find on 3DO game discs.

Post by 3DÖ » Mon Jul 05, 2010 10:08 pm

I have alot of time on my hands so I spent a day going through the whole 3DO catalogue to see if there was any fun stuff on the discs, I was mainly hunting for .film files so I skipped checking the cel files on most games and also skipped AIFC/AIF files on every game cause all games use those.

What I haven't gone through: for the most part i've skipped japanese localizations of EU/US games and also demo discs of every region except Live! 3DO Magazine CD-ROM #11.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

* Alone in the dark 2

Contains a picture of a nude woman. - http://emuconsoleexploitnews.blogspot.c ... -porn.html

* Theme park

Contains a Intro.flc file that works with ffmpeg but the sound for this intro is in a seperate .mid file I think

* Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon S

Contains a few .film fmvs, heres a bonus fmv I found on the disc - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5hP6nCVLS3g

* Yuu Yuu Hakusho

Contains a few.film fmvs but sound is not perfect when converting them with ffmpeg.

* Uchuu Seifutsu Furopon-kun

Theres a photoshop dir containing various files and a text file about the laws and use of the 3DO logotype that coders have to follow.

"Logo Information Read Me File

The 3DO Company must approve all artwork incorporating 3DO trademarks or logos. To assist you, we have included authorized logos in Encapsulated Postscript format (EPS). These files are located in the self-extracting archive, LPS.sea. Double click on this application, and the file will create a variety of authorized logos in Adobe Photoshopª and Adobe Illustrator¨ format. These files can then be translated to other formats as desired.

Please refer to Appendix A, "Right to Manufacture Process," of the CD Mastering Guide for further information about incorporating approved 3DO logos and trademarks. "

* Yamamura Misa Suspense Miyako Kurama Sansou Satsujinjiken

Contains .film files of furniture.

* Doctor Hauzer

Contains script text files in japanese - this has been mentioned before on the forum but i'd thought i'd add it anyways. http://3do.cdinteractive.co.uk/viewtopi ... tor+hauzer

* Drug Wars

Contains a attract.txt file with code inside it, I think it's for when some fmvs should begin in the game and stuff.

* EMIT Vol. 1,2,3

Stores it's game text in normal .txt files.

* Escape from Monster Manor - A Terrifying Hunt for the Undead

A .cel file named "LaurieProbstMadeMeUseThis" , it's a picture that says "A 3DO experience from electronic arts"

* Family Feud

3 different .film files of the Gametek/Eurocom logo , i've converted 1 of them without sound cause it was garbled - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eMBAyUwtE2k

* Great Soccer Kid (Japanese ver)

A dir called "PALimages" with a few pictures of old art, I guess they were testing the 3DO picture resolution capabilities or it's a function inside the game for scailing the screen. The US version does not contain this dir.

* Guardian War

Contains 3 .film files , I converted 2 of them and skipped the cast text file http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t0Lh1qGEZOI

* Hell a cyberpunk thriller

PIMAP.TXT file with commands for how some .aiff tunes should be played I think.

* Incredible Machine (EU ver)

3 text files - LDESC.TXT is some sort of tutorial of the game , level_names.txt contains what I guess must be level names but theres many of them hmm , tutor_names.txt contains various names, PASSWORD.TXT and this one contains what must be cheat passwords:)

* Iron Angel of the Apocalypse - The Return

10/20 text files with code in them.

* Kingdom - The Far Reaches

Uses .mve files for it's fmvs , you can convert these using mve2avi but you'll get garbled sound. Vlc runs .mve files without any video output but with the garbled sound.

* Konpeki no Kantai (Deep Blue Fleet) (japanese-exclusive)

15 .mov/film files that i've converted in 2 files since it ran over 10 minutes:
Part 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DjO9HlDBoiE
Part 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Doa7SrY2R0

* Kurokishi no Kamen (Japanese)

Short .film files of various items from the game.

* Lemmings

Intro and credits are in .film format but the sound is not stored within the .film files.

* Life Stage, The - Virtual House (Japanese ver)

22 .film files, i've converted the 2 different intros from this game - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ICvL_pXOmg

* Macaroni Houren Shou Interactive (Japan)

6 .film files that uses a different sort of audio encoding cause no matter what option I used in ffmpeg the audio came out very fast and everyone sounded like smurfs :).

* Montana Jones

Uses the .film format for it's fmvs but they do not end with this extension , the intro is simply called "opening" without any extension, i've converted the intro - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e-I-mdJRR3A

* Ogura Hyakunin Isshuu

A text file named KARUTA.TXT with japanese text/broken text inside it.

* Panzer General

5 text files with information about every campaign.

* Perfect General

6 nonstandard .film files that can't be converted or viewed (possibly .stream files named wrong)

* Policenauts

Uses .cpk .movie and .film but none can be converted or viewed sadly.

* Psychic Detective

A credits.txt with the names of the team that made the game.

* Return Fire and it's expansion disc

2 text files: text.txt with a list of the soundtrack and Remote.txt that simply has the text "Macintosh_HD:3DO:3DO_OS:2p5:REMOTE:" maybe a garbage file that the devkit created when making the game?:).

* Space Hulk

3 very short .film files.

THE END *PHEW*

Interesting stuff! You must have a lot of time on your hand....
Or, you were hoping you'd find naked pictures hidden on all the discs :P
