Ok, so I am in the process of going through my Japanese imports for the 3DO.

In sorting through the imports it is quite common to come across games that have jewel cases that are thick and heavy due to a large number of inserts/manuals/mail-in cards/etc.

I happened upon the game Short Warp by WARP and decided to crack it open to have a look through the inserts as it felt particularly thick (and it is also interesting in that these Short Warp games are limited and numbered).






As you can see below, there are quite a few items inside the case.






But... what caught my attention immediately was the item pictured below.






It read "You Can Choose To Use This Or To Loose That". Even more curious is that it was thick and seemed to contain something inside of it.

I proceeded to turn it over, and sure enough there was a flap that could be lifted to retrieve the contents.

I opened the flap, reached down inside, pulled out something metallic and lo and behold..................

!!! A CONDOM !!!







I know that I have a couple more copies of this game and I'm curious to see if they all came with this special little package.

3DOKid - You have one of these games. Did your copy come with the condom?

I've been collecting for the 3DO for a long time and I've never heard about this. The 3DO is full of surprises.
Did anyone else know about this?

Wonder how much that would fetch on ebay, '3DO condom, slightly soiled'!

Seriously though, I wouldn't recommend using that! this actually reminds me of a surprise extra in a magazine. 3DO at the time was evidently not the success story many had hoped for and EDGE magazine kinda declared this fact by putting feathers in this particular issue with the line 'as dead as a dodo'. Still have the magazine and feathers some place around here.

My copy didn't come (a cheap joke here? No - I'll let it pass) with a Condom. That however is the finest collectors item I have ever seen - and surely surpasses any item on any other platform ever.

Blinded by jealousy for your 3DO condom Bitrate - I have traversed my entire collection on the hope that I can top what you have there. Sadly I can't.

An entire book full actually.

...but no condom. and I checked my Short Warp disk pack twice.

Actually, considering all of the "games" that have been dropped on our doorstep over the years with titles like "Plumbers don't wear..." and "Sex" and "Immortal Desire" and so on and so on, she takes it pretty well. I think that she might draw the line at the condom though.

The beer mat came with Name onomancy or something. The one where you type in your name, and the game tells you if you going to get a complimentary condom with your copy of Short Warp or if your life is to be eternally racked with jealousy. That sort of prophetic thing.

yup it was Zangardo, i dont know if he actually owed one with the condom but i remember him telling me that one jap game came with a condom, and i didnt remember that untill i saw your pics


heh i had a girlfriend that said i was cheating on her when she found my collection of old playboys (from 60 to late 70's) they were in a box at my grandmas house at the time and she kept throwing it in my face and after the 5th time i told her if you ever bring that ridiculous opinion up again im threw with you, flash forward to 3 weeks later and she did it again and i kicked her out of the house, if she cant understand that those are collectors items then she needs to go, its not like they were in my house and in the bathroom for me to look at every time i took a shit

is that from a smokers house you think or just stained normally?

I've only ever seen foam like that in CD case once before. I have a 1977 CD of the Starwars tunes. And that bit of foam did the same!

I gave it a sniff (as an ex-smoker I know what I was looking for) and it doesn't smell of cigarettes.

It's wierd.

Damn, I was late on this one, a condom, huh? Welcome to the real world. I'd much rather have the beer mat though as I like beer.

It'd be interesting to see which one was most likely to get you in trouble. Beer has had its moments - but then Sex has stood along side all sorts of trouble too.

My copy of short warp came also with a condom, in the small little box.
I think all copies of that game originally came with a condom

No use by date on it though....

Unfortunate for us, but fortunate for the original owners

Although, clearly not for the original owner of my copy....

WARP loved to package a lot of extras with their games that are typically missing these days. This makes collecting difficult for collectors who are completists.
