Tried these controllers?

Yeah, so I obviously need more controllers. Yeah, so anyone tried either the 3DO Fighting Sword controller or the Sidekick Controller from Tommo? The Sidekick almost looks like a six button Genesis controller with turbo buttons. Fighting Sword looks more like a SNES pad with six face buttons. Ant help here would be appreciated.

Cool. From the pictures I can find, I can't tell if it has a way to plug in more than one controller. Can you confirm this for me please?

No daisy chaining. One player only.

Now that is a bummer . . . I wonder if there would be a way to build an adapter . . . :?: Or do you think a Y-Splitter would work?

I don't know what would would need for an adapter, I can't imagine a Y-Splitter working.

Hmm, I need to check into this then because the controller does look nice. Also, the SNES adapters, do they allow for two controllers to be plugged in as well? I am sure that someone here has at least one or two of them to check out . . .

Only one controller for the SNES adapter.

Hmmm ... I don't recall seeing this one before. Nice ... although it looks a bit awkward.

That looks... pretty hideous.

What do all the buttons do?

I have a feel that controller isn't very comfortable.

I wonder it about computers. Still, them switches on the bottom are intriguing.

From what I can guess, the bottom switches make those buttons auto/rapid-fire when pressed. The switches for the top buttons probably makes them activated constantly, even when they are not pressed. That's my assumption, anyway.

Nice. I like them both, but the Rock 3 is beautiful. :)

It's a weird one for sure. That Rock 3 one looks like a nursery toy. I practically expect teeth marks on it. Perhaps you can use it to learn your shapes, colors, and/or farm animals.

Was this US eBay? I look for 3DO items daily but didn't see them pop up. Maybe they were bought before I checked in yesterday.. It's a bummer, but then again I wouldn't have been able to afford one now anyway. The Magic Power one looks like it would have had the better feel of the two.

You think? If anything I think the Magic Power one ,with its cheap looking rainbow buttons, is more nursery appropriate. I mean, just check out the colors ... blue, red, green, and ... baby diarrhea? :P

Yes, it was US evilbay. Next time you must be faster ;-)

Why didn't you care for them? Did they not control well?

im not much of joystick controller guy, the only one i liked is the huge wooden arcade stick i got, it feels more like an arcade than anything else ive owned

might have to ask that control question to someone who has one and used it more than once :)

In my experience with the Rock 3, the main issue is that the unit is not heavy enough.
The buttons and joystick control well, but the unit does not possess enough mass to prevent it from moving around when you start pushing the joystick around hastily.

To mitigate this problem, it comes with suction feet which do work well when you are using in on a flat surface.

It's also nice that it allows you to hook up a SNES pad to your 3DO.

Believe it or not, the Capcom fighting controller came with the 3DO I ordered. I assume it's pretty rare, and it looks to have a better D-Pad than the Super NES counterpart, the D-Pad on this is one of my favorites ever.

Doing a little research on third-party 3DO Controllers, I stumbled across this holy page:

http://www.3dotoday.com/Accessories.html

Wow, what a website. Did a user here make this? It's something else. Here's a picture of the Fighting Sword Controller for n00bs like myself:

Image

Looks amazing, I can only hope it has shoulder buttons for games like Samurai Shodown which don't have any other kicking options besides holding R and pressing A B or C. The Sidekick was a little harder to find a good picture of...

Image

Yeah, I'm afraid I couldn't actually find a picture of the physical thing. It was dumb luck that the former controller had a photograph printed on the box, since apparently boxes are what this guy's all about.

But wow, the stuff I've found on this website. Ever heard of the 3DO Bible? Well, you have now.

Image

In the beginning Trip Hawkins created 3DO. And the library was void; and darkness was upon the crappy FMV games: and Plumbers Don't Wear Ties moved upon the face of the 3DO.

And Trip said, let there be Gex: and there was Gex.

I'll shut up now.
