How many players could 3DO support in theory?

What game/homebrew currently uses over 2-Players and what's the maximum number a 3DO game has ever supported?

Aw yeah. 3DO is the real deal.

Eight players is the most I've ever seen in a 3DO game. Anyone seen one with more?

Anyone to insert their two cents would be greatly appreciated. Btw which 3DO game(s) support 8-Players? Let me guess, is it Madden?

According to the development documentation...
Because a theoretically unlimited number of peripherals can be daisy-chained, the control port has no fixed maximum number of devices. The number of devices that can be daisy-chained is limited only by the bandwidth of the port. When too many peripherals are linked (usually more than eight), the port becomes overwhelmed and fails to recognize the last device in the chain.

According to Trip Hawkins...
I was very passionate about the multiplayer EA Sports games. Even with 3DO, I produced another multiplayer game called Twisted, and we made a daisy chain of joysticks so that a game could have as many as 16 players in the same room.

While this thread has been bumped back into exsistence...

I am not sure if this has been tested on real hardware yet...

In 4DO shortly after version 1.1.5.0 it was found that Super Wing Commander would not respond to any controls when 6 controllers were emulated as connected.

Interesting little tidbit. Anyone want to test this out on real hardware?

EA's Virtual Stadium Baseball was another game that (I think) supported up to 8 players.
Most wanted - Eye of Typhoon, 3DO Magazines issues #14 & #15, Pro Stadium, Defcon 5

Perfect General's minigame bomberman-clone supports 8 players, I think.
