Most rubbishgames on the 3DO

I consider myself an expert on bad. I don't consider no effort and a bad game actually as bad as loads of effort and still a bad game.

For example. Plumbers don't wear ties is bad - but clearly there was no effort put into making, so it's therefore not as bad as say Megarace which had lots and lots of effort and was still bad. So - using my Sun Tsu like deving rod of badness I nominate the following bad 3DO games. In no particular order.

1. Primal Rage. [/cough]
2. Doom.
3. Cyberdillo.
4. BC racer
5. Megarace.

You liked megarace? With megarace I actually liked the cities. Gaming graphic developers go through fads don't they? Like in-game graphic fashions, where an effect gets into every game, because it's new and looks a bit cool.

For example:

We had lens flare. That was big for a while. Games that didn't have lights had lens flare all the same. Everywhere you looked in a game some lens was flaring. I believe Ridge Racer Revolution kicked it off formally.

Then there was water. Many games that didn't need it, featured lovely rippling water effects. First it was pre-rendered water, eventually it was realtime water.

More recently we had Horses. Every game had a Horse. it was like, the games about cars and tanks and Metal gears - but here's a lovely horse I made. Yes. Good. In case you can't be arsed to read my blog, and who would blame you, i hate horse. I ate horses ;)

but back in the day when megarace was around they loved their bright whites. Oh indeed. buildings, spaceship engines, stars, anything, anything with white was made extra eye-squintingly bright. Megarace was the first time I began to notice the Bright White fetish sweeping the gaming industry.

Maybe megarace doesn't belong on there actually.

hmmm. Wolfenstein - that was crap too.

I did play megarace quite a bit. OK.

You really didn't like Wolfenstein? Did you like Wolfenstein on any platform, or was it just the 3DO version you didn't like?

I really liked Wolfenstein on 3do, specially the enhanced music title.
Err.. well. At that time, I liked (cof, cof) Doom too.

I find it tragic that the snes version of doom demolishes the 3do one. Although it has no textured ceilings or walls it has a good frame rate. At least the 3do has a great soundtrack...

I have to admit. snes doom was the first doom i played. IT was actually pretty fun if you werent spoiled by the PC version. But once I played the PC version...... Never going back. :)

My initial experience with Doom was that my pc played it crazy slow for whatever reason so the snes was an improvement in speed anyways... If I remember correctly my pc was a 386sx 33mhz lol. The good ol days

Thank you, Dengar.

I bumped my head on a wall several times trying to forget this evil little game. When I had success, I forgot who I was and wander several days until someone finds me, and brings me home.

Now that you remind me, I'll have to do it again
