Value of complete 3DO collection?

Hi, I was on Craigslist and ran across this ad:
http://phoenix.craigslist.org/evl/vgm/2875547345.html

He says all US and JP (though after talking to him, he's not entirely certain he has all of the JP titles, is there a handy list somewhere I can show him?) titles, along with a couple of betas (if any of these need to be dumped, I can try to get my hands on them) I made him an offer of 4k (I really had a layman's idea of what this kind of lot was worth) and he turned it down, hoping to get around 6k+.

I know this is a tough question to field in an exact sort of way, but is this lot worth 6k? Worth more? Any help is appreciated, and thank you. :D

Well maybe if he put how much he wanted for it, that would help. He is probably trying to see how much money he can get out of you, or is one of those people that take pride in knowing how much their collection might be worth.

I wonder what the purpose of that link cable was.. First ive ever seen or heard of it.

I remember seeing those foam balls on ebay a while back, i wanted to get them but i couldnt afford them..

It took quite a bit of fanagling to even get him to say a figure. At first he kept telling me to make an offer.
If there was a chance that 6k was the value, i'd consider it. But I just don't if all of that is worth 6k... it is mighty tempting though.

I remeber seeing the video mentioned in the ad and wishing that collection would go for up for sale. But I'm not willing to put $6k down for it. He does sound like he's jerking you around a bit.

He says he's going to seperate it and evilbay it...
How silly. He's going to lose roughly 20% of it to fees. And he may not even yield 6k before the fees.

Breaking it up is just silly.

No kidding. A complete collection is a wonderful accomplishment and it shouldn't be ruined.

Is there a list of Japanese exclusives? I want to find out if he really does all have of the JP titles.

Do you have a picture of his Japanese games? If so, I can tell you right away.

bitrate will buy them and you will never see the collection again

I was aware of this collection days before it showed up on this forum (Digitpress).
If I was interested in buying the collection I would have already committed to doing so.

If you want to know if all of the Japanese exclusives are there, I can tell you. If not, no skin off of my back.

So... Does anyone have any info on that link cable for the extension port in the back?

He doesn't have any other pictures as far as I know. I can ask, but he seems to have poor communication skills (or no interest in talking to me)

So this hit Digitpress eh? I feel special for being in the area that this is being sold in.

EDIT: He won't take any more pictures, but he said if I want to get the lot, I need to beat the current offer of 6500. It's being shown 10 am tomorrow to a prospective buyer that he suspects will purchase it. As cool as it would be... I can't blow half of my savings on that

Why in the world would anybody even make an offer on this lot if he doesn't have pics? :?

He wants $6,000 and he won't even take more photos?!?!? hmmmm

6 thousand plus for that collection and he won't take any more photos? I don't think so and if bitrate isn't going for it, I'd take that as a good indication of things. I wonder if he really has anyone offering 6500 or if he's just attempting to feed you and/or others a line of bull in hopes you'll rush to offer more than his manufactured price.

I think it doesn't cost $6000+.

One or two years ago 3DO Company ex-employee sold huge collection of sealed 3DO games (including Lucienne's Quest, Dinopark Tycoon and etc) and other rare 3DO stuff at evilbay for about $1500 only. So this shit doesn't cost $6K. Maximum $2000-3000.

1500 eh? That is indeed a far cry from 6k... even with any extras this guy has over the auction from years ago.

I got the near complete North American collection of the Turbo Grafx games for 1200 off of Craigslist last year (all complete in box and it's missing Bonk 3 and Magical Chase) and that felt like an infinitely better purchase than this one would have been, even at my offer of 4500.

Thanks for the replies, everyone. Maybe if I wait, the guy will come back down to reality (assuming he's lying about tomorrow's buyer)

Someone is coming to look at it and he wants you to put a bid over $6,500? Yeah right.

It sounded fishy as all hell. But I don't know much about the 3DO, it's one of the few major systems I've yet to own, so I wanted to ask the experts to make sure I wasn't losing out on a good opportunity on getting the collection.

Something else to think about, a very nice 3DO lot sold on eBay last week for about $700. That should help put it into perspective a bit:

That's £400/£500 that's quite a lot.

This isn't really related but I just found out that if you click on the evilbay link when it's in quotes you actually go to www.evilbay.com

That is beautiful, I'm so glad I didn't see it. I have just about everything there minus most of my long boxes. I haven't bought gaming stuff in a while and I'm trying not to.
