People have been scanning old video game mags and putting up PDFs and CBR/CBZ files. Just do some searching. Retromags.com and some torrent sites have them. Combine them with a tablet for reading and it's retro bliss.
The 3DO pricing screams emergency damage control backpedaling to me. Perhaps Hawkins was indeed intensely fighting the hardware manufacturers. It went from $700 to $450 in about 6 months. $450 was still probably $150 too high to get sales really flowing, especially when the software library was really weak too.
