Post by Dreygor » Sun Jul 22, 2012 8:06 pm

If you had a FZ-10 and a FZ-1, Both are in perfect working condition, Which would would you keep and why? They both seem to play burnt ISO's just fine.

I can't decide and one needs to go :(

Being the 3DO fan I am I'd probably keep both, but that probably isn't the sorta answer you were hoping for ...

I love my FZ-1, but the FZ-10 is a later model and thus has better memory management, and also less wear & tear thanks to the flip top lid vs.the motorized tray. That being said, the FZ-1 is built like a tank and I've never had issues with any model I've owned. I like the weight, the design, etc... Both are great quality machines.

i started with a Goldstar and when i got my FZ10 its been the machine for me. i havent hooked up my Goldstar or FZ1 system since

i like the flip door, reminds me of Sega CD
and the Sega CD model 1 turned me off to front drawer loading machines

From a purely logical standpoint, id let go of the FZ-1.. It will get you more money and the FZ-10 has less moving parts and a memory manager, so should theoretically last longer and be more convenient.

I too would keep the FZ-10. The memory manager alone makes it worth it. I have had a disc tray burn out on an FZ-1 and it was a real heart break. The pop up lid of the FZ-10 makes me worry less about having to part with my 3DO. Keep the controllers of the FZ-1 though so you can do the cool headphone thing!

Yeah, the larger controllers are definetly prefered, especially those with a bit more sensitive d-pad.

FZ-1 for just looks. It's a gorgeous machine, mine's lasted 19 years and never had a single problem either. However if you are thinking of doing the IDE mod you should go with the FZ-10. But these are just my opinions.
