Hello everybody

Here we trying to create the list 20 of "best of the best" 3DO exclusive games.

1) The game need to be an exclusive. 3DO Only (without a good or bed ports).
2) It should be a good game.
3) The game should not have prequels, sequels (or extended versions) on other platforms.

Here the list:

1. Battle Blues
2. Blade Force
3. Crash 'N Burn
4. Demolition Man
5. Doctor Hauzer
6. Escape from Monster Manor
7. Gridders
8. Guardian War
9. Iron Angel of the Apocalypse: The Return
10. Mazer
11. Oukoku no Grand Chef
12. PaTaank
13. Phoenix 3
14. Scramble Cobra
15. Snow Job
16. Twisted: The Game Show
17. Way of the Warrior

Any suggestions? :D

Been a while, huh? Welcome back. :)

Now that I've got the warm welcome outta the way, I have to be honest and say I really don't like this list ...

It has some truly poor games on it, especially Mazer. I can't imagine a game of it's quality ever making a "best" list. Phoenix 3 and Way of the Warrior are also highly suspect for me. (I can't really gauge most of the imports acurrately though)

By not including ports I think you are really selling the system short, since 3DO not only has many vastly superior ones, but ones with lots of genuine new and different content. For instance, even though it has the "Madden" name, can you find any other football game even close to Madden 3DO? This is just one of many examples.

I don't understand the logic of "no sequels". That has absolutely nothing to do with exclusive games. :?

A few I quickly thought of that, in my honest opinion, are much more worthy ...

Burning Soldier
CPU Bach
Captain Quazar
Foes of Ali
Icebreaker
Lost Files of Sherlock Holmes
Zhadnost

A few of these are on PC, but I assume (hope) you are just dealing w/consoles. If not, there are still 4 of the 7 that deserve mention.

Please don't take my comments the wrong way. I'm glad the 3DO is getting love, and some of the choices are really very good. But, as it stands, I think a list like this reflects ... let's just say, not the best on my beloved 3DO.

Wow, I really am a 3DO neophyte still... Of all the games listed by both Zenkov and Trev, the only one I've played is Icebreaker!

Still, I will second Icebreaker, and also nominate Slayer. Much as I love Iron Angel of the Apocalypse, and have been told the sequel is better, I think most 3DO gamers would argue that Slayer is a superior live action dungeon crawling experience to either of the Iron Angel games. (Anyone who's actually played IRotA: The Return, feel free to support or refute me!)

I forgot Immercenary. Looks like you might have also.

I the game divides people, but certainly no more than Way of the Warrior does.

Really? Seems odd for a fmv video game to get ported long after the craze had died down. I wonder why an obscure title like Burning Soldier would get ported 4 years later? In any event, I've never liked comparing pc to consoles.

Since it's a Top 20, HELL: A Cyberpunk Thriller will have to knock one of those off the list. Unless you aren't dealing with just consoles as it was on DOS.

That's a hard list to populate with the criteria. No wonder Mazer made it!!

Too bad we can't count Killing Time, or can we? The PC game was much, much different.

Super-bummer that they ported Lucienne's Quest too, and for friggen Saturn! What a waste!

Yeah, the criteria is ... lets say, unusual ...

I would count Lucienne's Quest. It's the only console where you can play the game in English. And unlike some other genres, rpgs are near impossible to play in Japanese unless you know how to decipher the language.

How the heck can you put Way of the Warrior on a list of 'good games'?

Good question. I guess some people still really like it (not me!)

I liked it!!!

... although I can't say it's on the top 20. There aren't many exclusives, though, I suppose.

Also, the Saturn version is different enough that it could almost be considered a remake. It has sharper graphics, completely different FMVs, new character portraits, and even voice acting. Probably a few other differences that I haven't picked up on yet, too. I'll have to give it a good playthrough and see if I can catalogue them all.

Iron Angel: The Return is another one that's not quite an exclusive - the Japanese Windows version.

Zenkov never did clarify if the criteria being used was console exclusive or not.

Ok time for me to bust in on this the best I can, first according to critics and popularity:

1. Star Control II (not my opinion but has been the general consensus for some time, I still love it though 8) )
2. Need for Speed (I have no interest in this game, but it was still huge)
3. Road Rash (I don't care for it but it got rave reviews)
4. Space Hulk ( I never played it but it got top reviews over time)
5. Samurai Shawdown
6. Out Of This World (one of my favorites)
7. Killing Time (one of my favorites)
8. Street Fighter 2 Turbo (I like 8) )
9. Alone In The Dark (one of my favorites)
10. Wing Commander III
11. The Horde (one of my favorites 8) )
12. Gex
13. Shockwave 2 (I don't like it)
14. Wolfenstein 3D (love it  )
15. Return Fire
16. Captain Quazar
17. Escape from Monster Manor (yuck!)
18. Soccer Kid
19. Slayer (Blah! )
20. D

Now my personal opinion

1. Lost Files Of Sherlock Holmes
2. Killing Time
3. Alone In The Dark
4. The Horde
5. Shockwave 1
6. Out Of This World
7. Twisted
8. Wolfenstein 3D
9. Street Fighter II Turbo
10. Demolition Man (underrated for 3DO)
11. Foes Of Ali
12. Myst
13. Battle Chess
14. Captain Quazar
15. Gex

I only have a top 15 for my personal list, I have not explored that many titles, and many I don't even want to, even though I love the 3DO and certain 3DO games I love to death, most games just suck

How can you say most 3DO games suck if you admit to not exploring many, or even wanting to? :?

I tried several titles and owned quite a few over the years. I also tried samplers of others, I did not like those games. There were some other titles I never played but saw others play and I did not want to spend the money on them since they seemed to not be my taste. I will take back what I said, they don't suck they just weren't my cup of tea.
