US 3DO Games: Long boxes and/or Jewel cases?

YET ANOTHER LIST BASED QUESTION...
95% of my 3DO titles are the PAL releases. As most hardened 3DO collectors here will already know, pretty much all the PAL titles were released as either double jewel case or single jewel case releases. The only exception I own thus far is Rise of the Robots, which came as a long box release BUT still contained a separate jewel case (with artwork etc) within - meaning I can store the long box away aka out of sight

WHAT I'D LIKE TO KNOW IS...
if anyone has the information available or off the top of their head, is which US titles were released in either:

1) just jewel case or
2) long box containing separate jewel case within (i.e. Doom or SSF2Turbo)

I know it's super overly anal of me, but I plan to pick up some US titles in the future for the 3DO... BUT I don't want any of the games that are simply a long box release with the disc tray being part of the long box itself. For example (courtesy of bitrate)...

Image

...don't want any of these if I can help it. But if I have to, I will.

I own Demolition Man and Supreme Warrior and they both come in similar longbox set-ups, but I have to make so because they didn't receive PAL box treatment :D

-

SO, YEAH...
if anyone has any kind of list of US titles and would be kind enough to highlight which had a jewel case only/contained within, I'd be grateful.

Sorry to be a pin though, as coming from other forums I've been members of for YEARS, I do know how f*cking lame, mundnane and painful such requests are. So I do sympathise

I have only my own fairly limited collection to go by, but at least it's a start:

1) just jewel case
3DO Game Guru

2) long box containing separate jewel case within
Burning Soldier
Cyberia
Demolition Man
Guardian War
Hell: A Cyberpunk Thriller
Psychic Detective
Snow Job
Star Control II
Strahl
Wing Commander III
Wolfenstein 3D

I can also confirm that Space Pirates is one of the variety you don't want.

Actually, the 3DO Game Guru did come in a cardboard box which contained the jewel case. It's not the typical long-box though. Much more cubic in shape.

Crash n Burn as a pack in title certainly came as jewelcase only. I think there is a not for resale (pack in) jewel case only version of Total Eclipse as well since that came with my testing station.

Shock Wave and Gridrunners came in jewel case only as pack ins with the 3DO Blaster.

THANKS EVERYONE SO FAR...
but Martiniii, this one in particular caught my attention, as I own this one, and my copy came in a long box with 2 CD's just in windowed paper slip cases.

So, does that mean that I actually have a PAL variant? As I presumed all those Digital Pictures titles were US only (with some JP versions too).

My Supreme Warrior is the exact same (i.e. no jewel box).

Odd...

I think you're confusing Demolition Man with another game... Demolition Man is 1 CD only, and is from Virgin Interactive, not Digital Pictures.

It sounds like NeoGeoNinja may be thinking of Supreme Warrior instead of Demolition Man.

You're both correct, I was confusing DM with SW. However, that said, my copy of DM is still in the traditional longbox format, therefore it doesn't have the Jewel Case inside! :?:

It does however have an ELSPA sticker on the back, so maybe that has something to do with it?

There weren't too many 3DO titles in the US that were jewel case only. The Woody Woodpecker discs were, as were some of the Vivid titles. Multiple Demo Discs too of course. And than there were games that were both jewel case & long box. Pack ins like Crash n' Burn for instance.

A couple other games that share the same style as Demo Man (with the disc holder built in the box) are Creature Shock & Jurassic Park Interactive, and Lost Eden (all Virgin) Many of the EA games have a similar design too, though the built in disc holders in them have more spring to them.

THESE ARE THE SORTS OF GAMES...
I was getting at really Trev - for example, my US copies of Doom & Super SF2 are both longboxes which CONTAIN Jewel Cases complete with their own artwork (manual & inserts etc). I believe the Daedalus Encounter is the same again - except it's a double disc case instead of a single :)

Here are a some that have a jewel case inside a box. This list is based of a very quick glance at my own collection (not my full collection sadly) but it should give you an idea. Also, a lot of these are jewel cases with backing inserts only as the manuals are too long ...

Bust a move
Blade Force
Captain Quazar
Carrier
Cowboy Casino
Cyberdillio
Cyberia
Gridders
icebreaker
Kingdom
Life Stage Virtual House
Myst
Primal Rage
Seal of the Pharoh
Slam 'n Jam
Starblade
Station Invasion
SFII
T&E Soft (all golf games)
Trip'd
Virtuoso
Wing Commander III
Wolfenstein
Zhadnost

There are many more, but this is partial.

BUST-A-MOVE ON 3DO?...

Wow. Well that's a new one on me. Checked it out on everyone's favourite video hosting site and, whilst it's cool that you CAN play BAMove on 3DO, I'll admit I was disappointed to see it wasn't a port of the NeoGeo release. Still looks fun though.

Thanks for these Trev :)

I just realized what the problem is. My copy of Demolition Man is incomplete; I got a CD and a 5 inch manual inside a jewel case. I assumed that the jewel case came from the game, since why would Virgin make a manual that slips inside a jewel case for a product which doesn't include a jewel case? But now I'm bonking myself on the head, since Space Pirates includes just such a manual with just a plastic disc tray to run against, something I knew when I made that first post.

So yeah, apparently the guy who sold me Demolition Man was storing the disc in a generic jewel case.

My copies of Psychic Detective and Snow Job are in the same state as Demolition Man, so somebody else will have to confirm for you whether or not those games come with jewel case or not. The others on my list are all accurate, though, as I either have a complete copy or the jewel case includes a back insert.

Phoenix 3 is another one that came in its own jewel case with art that I haven't seen listed yet.

Yep, it's basically a straight port of the SNES one, albeit it doesn't run as smoothly.
