I got to thinking we all know this system has great 3-D games but what side-scrolling games are there on the 3DO? Of course the first one that popped into my head was GEX, but here is an unfortunately short list of the titles I could think of. Please add to the list if you can think of any more.

added games in dark blue
The Doraemons
Flashback
GEX
Johnny Bazookatone
Montana Jones
Out of this World
Phoenix 3
Putt Putt Goes To The Moon
Putt Putt Joins The Parade

Johnny Bazookatone. How could you forget? I hated it personally, but others seem to have enjoyed it.

I don't think there were any Japanese only 2D platformers?

Oh - and do the Putt Putt games count?

Hmm, platformers, lets see :

I guess HOUSEKEEPER could count as one, though really its more like a MANIAC MANSION clone.

So I guess you could also include MONTANA JONES. Though its part 3D-ish too.

Theres CASPER, though it could be iffy on calling that one a platformer. Actually its kinda iffy calling it a game too... but I digress.

DORAEMONS has some platform elements in it as well as I recall. But it's been a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG time since I've played it.

I'll have to go through my collection and see what I can find.

Hmm I don’t have HOUSEKEEPER, what’s it about? Any good?

I don’t recall Montana Jones ever having any side scrolling, just 2-D cartoon parts and 3-D running around. I find that game to be highly overrated anyway.

Casper is a top view game.

I was trying to block out The Doraemons I guess, what is it with Japanese people and that game? The puzzles musta been really good cause the music makes me wanna poke my eardrums with a pen.

Demolition Man (mixed)
-3d doom style sequences

-shooting gallery sequences.

-a short driving level,

-a couple brief 1 on 1 fighting sequences

What were the side scrolling parts?

I really didn't care for Casper (as you could probably guess), but it still can entertain most people who are platformer fans.

Montana Jones has large platform segments. Depends on the region you venture to. It tries alot of everything and succeeds to a minor degree.

You know I went back and played Demolition Man today and I was thinking of the fighting levels as side scrollers so I'll scratch that from my list.

As for Montana Jones I really don't recall any platform segments but my memory is rather crappy so if you say they are large I'll take your word for it. Maybe I'll have to go back and play it some day, personally I really couldn't stand all the cartoony stuff in it.

I'm going to buy Phoenix 3 for about 22 EUR - too much money?
I mean it looks interesting, simple gameplay, trash FMV...
but, is it a hard to beat game?

I would only pay half that. That's like $30 US, it's worth maybe $10 to $15 USD. It's got nice artwork but the game isn't that great. There is a difficulty setting.

Thanks. But ebay is to slow. I want it now. It's on german amazon.
I want to play it and make movies of it. The only clip I've found
on youtube shows me a problem: The camera is too much on the
figure - not so much focusing the ground. So, you hardly know
if you fall into fire.
(why making gamedesign with fire, vulcanos and lava?
A historical phenomenon in video game making).

You would better offer savoring the anticipation as the game is, frankly, sub-optimal.

Hope you like replaying long platforming levels ... Phoenix 3 seems to have a phobia of checkpoints :( Still an okay game if you're willing to put forth the effort (not great though)
