Here's a video of the introduction of J. B. Harold: Blue Chicago Blues, apparently ripped from the LaserActive laserdisc. The game was also released on the 3DO and several other platforms, but this is the sole version available in English -- all other releases are dubbed in Japanese. (That dubbing seems pretty sloppy, BTW.)
If only we had the whole thing! But alas, the LaserActive release is exceedingly rare, from what I understand, so it'd be tough to get a full rip (even audio-only).
Still, while I don't know how difficult it would be to reauthor the 3DO video files to replace the audio tracks, it certainly could be done. Even if there are untranslated menu items, it'd make the game reasonably playable and far more rewarding -- not to mention that it'd be the first fan-translated 3DO game. (It's kind of appalling that, after all this time, there still isn't a single one.)

Cool. I don't think I realized this was a live action FMV game. I wonder how the undubbed version ended up exclusive to the LaserActive. It's such an obvious choice for the North American 3DO, and you'd think if nothing else Panasonic or Studio 3DO would've nabbed it.

I had saved a search for it on ePay and when it finally came up it sold for over $600. Out of my price range.

Yeah, it's a real shame that the English-language/LaserActive version is so hard to get and so pricy. I suppose if I had a way of digitizing/transferring the contents, I could buy one, capture it, and then put it back on Ebay (or otherwise resell it).3DO Experience wrote:I had saved a search for it on ePay and when it finally came up it sold for over $600. Interesting: there's apparently a Windows version of Blue Chicago Blues, and that's the only other release with the English-language soundtrack (even though it's a Japan-only release if I understand correctly). So that's an option too.
