I found this two page feature of the 'soon to be released' 3DO system, in the August 1993 issues of GamePro:
I don't know what's causing the yellow marks on the edges, other than my scanner sucking!

I remember that article. How naive we were back then, falling for anything but actual gameplay screenshots. Pwnd by the marketing hawks.

Yep, and full motion video was the Next Big Thing
tm. You have to give them credit for putting out screen that look 10x better than anything available at the time.

at that hideous joypad! Too bad we didn't get return to Zork though. That game was indeed awesome.

I am - don't know about the rest of you
Those two Shock Wave images also appeared in Edge Magazine in the UK. I think the words 'sold' are still resonating somewhere

Any more of your cheek and youll be staring down the barrel of a broken ALG gamegun.
Although a lot of the "next gen" early shots made me wanna buy every new console going, I remember seeing that road rash shot and even at my young, naive age still thinking "yeah, bullshit"
It blatantly wasnt "in game", but on the other hand, I was super impressed by the mega cd night trap FMV quality
meh, swings and roundabouts

3DO, 360, PS3 - what are you playing with?
Some generations before: Look, a flash in the sky, god is angry.
Previous past: Look, Mr. Spock, it shines, it must be a computer
Past: Look, it's an interactive movie, must be interactive
Today: Look, good graphics, must be very advanced and great gameplay

Interesting to see Star Trek TNG included.
Got the concept art for that thanks to Mr 3DO KID. Hope to get my scanning cap on soon so you guys can see the stuff in DiGiTaL format!

Wow, sorry for my kinda late response, but geez were people mesmerized back then by FMV. I mean, sometimes '90s people have such weird tastes.

Nothing like dusting off an old topic to post a page scan.

Huh, how far did the TNG game get? Was it released on other platforms? Has a 3DO proto surfaced? Do androids dream of sheepish electricity?

Does anyone here own the model of that 3DO shown in the first article. I actually quite like the black button concept for some reason. Oh... and that dpad! Intellivision-cum-CD32-tastic...

I'm sure that someone, somewhere indeed has it. Prototype and all. However, whoever has it probably doesn't want to get rid of it though. I bet 3DOKid has it in his Kid Cave. It's in the same place Batman would put the Bat Computer in the Bat cave. If you think that's bad ass, you should see the Kid Mobile! Looks just like Green Hornets Black Beauty, but with side mounted ALG Light Guns and a 3DO logo on the hood in all it's airbrushed glory!

I'm sure Trip has it still.
Here's a nicer scan. Note that the Stop/Eject button is on A and B has a TV/3DO option. I'm guessing the firmware had a noticeable difference from what we ended up with.

Could it possibly have been a home version of
this game?
Either way, just going by those magazine shots, it looks like it would have been a cool game to have on the 3DO.

Jeez, that looks downright likely. At the very least the art styles are quite similar indeed. Good catch!
