Help with night trap-

Just started playing night trap but without a manual Im clueless.
Can anyone help- How do you catch the crims / set traps off.

Well, here's the instruction manual to the game, its only the sega CD, but it's pretty much the same. A to switch camera, B to activate trap, C for code, etc.
