i had to breakout my backup FZ-10 today. my old warrior stopped spinning. the power comes on, but nothing spins. it just goes to the memory manager. i opened it and everything is hooked up proper. i haven't checked to see if it is getting any voltage. I held the door button down with a cd on the turntable and it would not spin. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like the laser is dead to be honest. You can try replacing it first. The motors to cd, dvd, and LD drives tend to last way way longer then the lasers. I know the Goldstar unit uses a Sanyo SF-C93 and the FZ-1 uses a Sanyo 4pin/11pin SF-92.5, but I have zero idea as to what the FZ-10 uses,as back in the day I never paid attention.

would the laser going out prevent it from spinning?

hold the cd door button in with no cd in there and see if the laser fires , i don't know how the fz-10 does it but i'd assume that it either tries the motor first and then fires the laser or it tests the laser before the motor . also a ribbon cable could have come undone .

Sounds like an odd error. I'd be tempted to open it up and re-seat all the ribbon cables (carefully!)
