3DOkid's blog

I've been popping in every now and then to look for more 3DO game reviews on the ol' blog and find myself re-reading old reviews to pass the time until new reviews are posted.

You haven't quit on us have ya :D

On a related note, I can't seem to get the game tags to work properly on the blog. It dislays the same game tags no matter how many times I hit the "more tags" link. I loved how the tags feature worked before as I could scroll through them and pick a review for a game I haven't even thought about in a long time.

Anyway, I'm sure that you are busy, but there can't possibly be any priorities higher on your list than the 3DO blog can there

A flurry of activity. by 3DOkid Pro @ 2008-03-09 – 13:56:42

Works eased up a bit and so I found sometime and motivation to carry on with this epic task.

Hope you enjoy the videos. It's always nice to see stuff running.

I've got a whole bunch of games to put up. Mostly japanese but also things like Crash 'n burn, Fatty Bear amd things like cinderella.

I've taken down the list of 3do games, largely because it was so wrong it wasn't not funny. The U.S. list of releases seem pretty good but the list of Japanese games had glaring ommisions and stuff that was merely a EU/US game with a Japanese title, and then the EU/US version was also on the list for Japanese releases. So, I'm going to tidy it up.
the other way to search is to click on Archives then you would have to search by month then scroll though them all ;)

Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeellll.

A couple of things.

Firstly, for the benefit of the human race. I'm gonna start again on 3DO but on a semi-professional website called GamersVerdict. Basically, every game re-reviewed 3DOkid-stylee. (i.e. badly)

Yesterday I was given the go ahead by the owner to start writing.

Secondly: http://playstationx.blog.co.uk/

I know a lot of you don't like Playstation, so that's why I haven't mentioned it before ...but... the Blogs all me :)

I'd love it if you guys to have a look. And if that means buying Lemmi a PS1, and having it shipped to his house with 4 big armed men to force him to play - then so be it :)

This is great news. Are you really planning on doing a new review for every single 3DO game again???
Don't get me wrong, I would enjoy reading new reviews for all of the games, I just didn't think you would have the stomach for another go-around. Whatever you do, please don't ever get rid of the old 3DO reviews. It might be interesting to compare some of the old reviews to new ones of the same game should you decide to do new reviews.

I'm not a big fan of the PS1, although I do love some of the games (Final Fantasy Tactics, Resident Evil series, Metal Gear Solid, etc). I consider a large portion of the PS1 gaming library to be heavily dated and incredibly primitive. I did enjoy Syphon Filter when I was a kid, but nowadays I view it as a typical average action game. The PS1 had a huge library of generic and bland games.

Everybody and their grandmother reviews PS1 games. What made the 3DO blog so successful was that it dealt with a unique forgotten "failure" that few knew a lot about coupled with absolutely ridiculous games and 3DO Kid's fantastic sense of humor.

I took a glance at the PS1 blog and sorry to say but I didn't find it interesting. I know about almost all the PS1 games you talked about (yes I realize the list is brief). Maybe if you focused on the more quirky and relatively less popular titles then maybe I'd be interested in it like that Japanese game that was simulating an acid trip.

And yes, Nightmare Creatures is an abomination. The only thing worse is the sequel.

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

Who stole the kid and where is he!

I demand the truth!

Blaaaasphamyyyyy!

I knew it must have been a sign when cleaning out some old boxes out fell my old playstation 1. I hadn't laid eyes on it for four years!
Ye Gods were telling me something.

No I must resist (resistance is futile resistance is futile)

Dont panic - I turned it on and played it - yep crap crap crap
back to my 3do

Whyyyyyyyyyy Kid? (yeah I know glory and respect and stuff)

Your blog was how I found you all - maybe some inserting of your new reviews will appease

So - we're agreed. I'm going to start 3Do again.

What game should I start with so they get a better deal of the type of crap I write?

I was thinking: Johnny Bazookatone

your next PSX reviews should be (with 3DOKid humor):

Hellnight
The Note
Clock Tower
Broken Helix

A note to 3DOKid ... the 'good book' says that you can't slave for two masters ... you'll end up loving one and hating the other. Please bear this in mind as I'd hate to see your psx venture take away from your much needed input on 3DO raritys.

Of course I'd love to see direct comparisons of psx/3do ports. What makes the originals better? Maybe you could do a double-deuce side by side comparison.

Yes, please do 3DOKid! There's so many games originally released on the 3DO then ported to PS1 that were ruined. Just off the top of my head there's Need for Speed, Shockwave and of course the abomination that is WCIII on the PS1.

Just don't mention *cough* Doom *cough*.

I like the 3DO as much as anyone here but I have to say that I do have some fond memories of my PlayStation. Mainly because games were easier (and cheaper) to get here in Australia than the 3DO, which wasn't released locally and had to be imported. You have to admit, Metal Gear Solid, Final Fantasy VII and Wipeout 2097 were pretty damn good :D

I still regret selling my 3DO to get a PS1 back in '96, though

...so, having had some thoughts, I've ditched PS1, and started again with 3DO.

Makes more sense really :)

It's good to have you back man

You won't be deleting older reviews will you?
I just stopped by the blog and saw the 2 new reviews. It was a welcome sight.
I can remember reading in one of the comments sections on the blog that you had quite a few games left that you had not reviewed. Was that an old comment and you have since reviewed all of those games, or do you still have quite a few games that need to be reviewed?

Darth Vader has returned to the good side! :D

Seriously, glad to hear your good choice. Please don't hesitate to tackle more imports too, as that is easily my fav part of your blog (real games too, no more 'goodie' games  )

Welcome back 3DOKid!

All togother now
G-O-O-D-I-E-S!

Seriously though - imports and lesser played games (eg Robinsons Requiem , Luciennes Quest) would be great - you're in a position with the imports that none of us are - you have an inhouse translater sympathetic to the cause!

Welcome back - now I can stop with the needles into my 3DO Kid voodoo doll - it obviously worked

Seriously, having collected nearly every import. The 'goodie' games are indeed the best. Honestly. ;)

Hmmm ... I've reviewed both these games, although only Lucienne's posted. Did you want to see my thoughts on Robinson's Requiem?

The 'goodie' games are indeed the best. Honestly.
Are there more out there that you haven't touched? I am aware of one ...

any requests? Japanese weirdness in particular? I've been putting in a super-human effort to learn the language, and (AND!) learning to read it. sadly not Kanji but Hiragana but it might come in useful.

Hey Will, were you ever able to make use of that Policenauts info I sent you some time back?

Anyway, I join in asking for a walkthrough for probably the best import that most of us have not played.

I like how the Post Reply button randomly takes me back to the forum index.

Anyway, figures some other shemp with a website would come along and bag you. I was about to offer you a sounding board on our zine site as well... of course, we're already filled up with PS3 users, so that wouldn't exactly help restore balance. Not like the whole theme is fair anyway.
