3DO on Linux - Raspberry PI?

I'll probably answer this question myself since i have jetlag. and time to kill.

But will 3DO emulator on Retroarch work well on a Raspberry PI?

I have a dead FZ1, that could have it's guts removed and replaced with a PI and an HDD quite easily.

Maybe even a DVD-ROM

No if you have a Raspberry 1 with the Armv6 processor, maybe (but unsure) if you have one with the dual-core proc.
If you ever want to try this on a pi, your best choice will probably be Lakka.

Lakka is essentially a minimal linux distribution with RetroArch as the main GUI.
If it runs too slowly, you could always try to overclock it a bit.

If you want to run your games from a USB DVD Drive,
just use a general-purpose linux distribution like Raspbian and install retroarch on it.

If you want to go beyond that and try to make it as genuine as possible, (Boot screen, boot games from cd drive etc...)
you will have to customise your linux distribution yourself.
