fantasy 3do mods

Here is what I want.

1. HDD integration so I can stick all my games, as ISO's, on to hard disk and a custom firmware to load them. Maybe even an online server, so I can load games from a network? It's only a 2X CDROM anyway right? ;) boot from lan style function. So an ethernet adapter too.

2. Internet-2-3do pad, so I can link my 3do to the web and play 2 player games across the web. Some sort of USB to 3DO controller hardware adapter. Not quite sure how that would work but I guess streaming the screen action would help too. Twisted should work, I don't fancy SF2 too much.

3. I want to be able to plug any old CD rom in and it work. Perhaps to the expansion port?

4. I want linux on my 3do - for no good reason.

5. A way of copying save files from 3do to PC and back and some mechanism for storings saves online and having global leader boards without any or too much fannying about.

6. Full memory snapshots so, I freeze a game at any point and return to it at anytime

7.avi player. Fantasy right?

The words "3do" and "vibration" also floated through my mind, then I remembered you lot and thought better of it.

Hmmm a vibrating 3DO, I'd be up for that :D

I'd also go with a Hard Disk and RGB 8)

В результате получается вечная 3DO консоль с возможностью чтения CD-RW дисков. = The result is an eternal 3DO console with the ability to read CD-RW discs.
It costs 3800 rubles, or $122 US, or £77, or 90€.

I have been strongly considering keeping a longterm eye on building a PC running a 3DO emulator into an arcade cabinet. I'm starting a showroom for arcade and pachinko machine sales, so we'll see. That's after the more profitable stuff.

Something like it. A full arcade cab with quality parts. It'd require a front-end be programmed though.

That's awesome! I suppose it would be best to use these with broken (at least, broken CD drive) units.

I wish there was a stronger homebrew scene. Like the dreamcast

The least ambitious mod I would really like is something that makes Japanese games with the weird text formatting work just fine on an American or PAL 3DO. Most Japanese games are OK I hear, as the method that incompatible games such as Blue Forest Story used (I think?) was unreccomended by 3DO, but regardless, there's some gems unplayable and it's a shame. I'm guessing a simple modchip could fix this, but honestly, who the hell knows.

Or maybe you could just edit the Disc Image. Internet, why have you failed me!

MNEMO solved the problem with Blue Forest Story last year. He fixed the disc image, so you can play it on US and EU 3DO's.

Well there is an edited copy of Blue Forest Story that is supposed to work on non-Jap 3DO's. I have the image but of course doesn't work on my FZ-1, 10, or Goldstar.

I would love a HDD adapter! Never have to get a disc again. And since I've archived all my discs I'd already have them lined up and named for it. My only concern (other than wishing for an FZ-1 version) is if you can change discs. For instance having to swap discs mid-game as in D or Psychic Detective.

What would be even more awesome if we had the know-how to get those games translated. Yeah, yeah, I know, it'll never happen, but still..

Speaking of translations, did Policenauts ever get translated for the 3DO, or was that just the PlayStation version?

3DO was/is the final on the list, and last I knew nothing yet

Yeah, the last I heard Policenauts was still on the "to do" list.

I remember hearing the 3DO translation mentioned in a PlayStation review of the game, but I didn't think it was still planned. It's nice to see it's still on the list. I'd definitely like to play it most on the 3DO.

Go to Notes and FAQ, or just read this:
policenauts.net wrote:Will there be patches for other versions?

Possibly, but we don't know when. The order for future patches would be: Saturn, PC98, 3DO.
I'm still annoyed the 3DO comes in last. The 3DO would be better in my opinion because A you can easily burn the game to a disc and play on the original hardware, (If there is incompatibility someone would resolve it) and B (FANBOY ALERT) It's the freaking 3DO. My order would either be PC98, 3DO, Saturn or 3DO, PC98, Saturn. By the way, I love the Saturn to death but I really don't see the point as much when the copy protection is just as strong as the PSX, not as supported/easy to bypass, and the Emulation isn't as good, whereas the 3DO, again, you can burn the game.

Or hell, maybe it's just harder to mod for than the Saturn, but I have a feeling it's really because there's not as strong a fanbase...

Then again if there was, we'd have fanboys just as crazy as the ones over on the Jag forums :P

Anyway, these guys would be amazing if the game was on the Jag CD and that was the only version they translated. I'm just nitpicking, these guys can't be thanked enough, and I suppose PSX comes first for its strong emulation. (Which I've yet to find great plugins/settings on my computer for.)

Yeah I have that and it doesn't work on a real system either, unless maybe you have a PAL console. I couldn't even get that one to load in an emulator while BFS did.

Playing Space Hulk off a 3do hard drive would be incredible, so would all the other games lol pity there isnt a video of the games running thou.
If I saw this mod on Evilbay, and it was for the FZ-1, I would buy it in a heartbeat.
I take it the FZ-1 isnt too popular in Russia as most of the Russian 3do forum users seem to favour the FZ-10 and the Goldstar models?

Oh I just saw in one of my folders Robinson's Requiem got a fan-translation to French. I actually forgot I had this.
