Panasonic 3DO FZ-1 storage manager question!

Hi again, Just a quick question about the Panasonic fz-1..... Do i need the sampler CD to access the storage manager? (consoles built in save memory)

My mate uses the sampler CD that came with the console to access his save games etc... but said you do not need to do this with all FZ-1's?? I still cannot find much info on these systems!

My goldstar unit can access the storage manager from the boot screen by pressing X without the use of a CD so if i get a Panasonic model without the original sampler CD then does that mean i cannot delete saves etc..???

Well if i get an FZ-1 model without the sampler disc then i am sure i can find the ISO for one... hopefully! I wish there was just 1 3DO model that had everything! The Goldstar does not need a sampler CD, neither does the FZ-10 but the FZ-10 feels very cheap and i do not like it's styling :(

An FZ-1 with access to the storage manager from the bootscreen, s-video or RGB and a reliable CD tray would be great :D It seems that all 3DO models have their ups and downs and not a single one is "all good" :?

Yes the FZ-10 is good for it's features but i personally do not like that model as it is cheaply made and the lid feels "flimsy" but i would still consider getting one... It is my least favourite 3DO :( I would love to get a Sanyo model but tryinfg to find one is hard and the price will be a killer :?

my first model was the US Goldstar i got in 1997 and its still running strong, then i got a brand new FZ10 for $47 and ive been using it since 1998 and no problems what-so-ever. i think the lid is stonger than most of the CD-i flip top lids. the only thing is the power switch is on the left side towards the back. i would have liked it in a different spot closer to the front, but thats my only gripe with the FZ10

I myself would rather have a flip top lid than a drawer type CD door. its mush easier to gerry-rig a flip top to play CD's than the drawer type if the door happens to break

Heh I think I got the 3meg disc image for the add-on from you Lemmi. I think I might try the version that's in the homebrew disc to see if it works with it. Oh PowerPie5000, if you get a Japanese model I've found that the memory manager CD will display all in Japanese text.

So if i got a Jap 3DO then would all storage manager CD's display in japanese? even if i got the US or UK CD version?

Also does this mean that UK and US games will display in Japanese on a Jap system? My Jap Neo Geo did this when a US or UK game was inserted  until i fitted a switch :D

No, just the CD for the Memory add-on unit. Other discs, like from samplers or games will display in whatever language they were made for.

No. There are VERY few games (less than 10?) that do this, there are some games however (Sword & Sorcery, Blue Forest Story, ect.) that will only run in Japanese units.

Oh i understand now :D It will probably be the same as my Victor Saturn where the names for each save game are in Japanese... most of them anyway as some Jap imports are actually in English :D The menu system will probably be in Japanese too... but thats no problem either.
