3DO FZ-1 issues...

Post by valthonis » Sat Mar 15, 2014 6:23 pm

I recently replaced the 3 caps in my FZ-1 and restored video/sound again, glad to have it working.
Sat down and played street fighter 2 for while, after about 30 minutes the screen goes black and the cdrom stops working.

The power light stays on, but the no video/sound and the disc tray will not eject.

Unplugged it and let it sit for a while and plugged it back in.
The power light comes on, the fan starts, but nothing on the screen and no activity from the cd drive (no eject either).

Checked the drive cables but honestly at a bit of a loss.
Thoughts?

I have a broken 3do that makes this noise. It is made by the laser inside the sled rapidly moving up and down as it tries to focus on the disc (not the laser sled moving on the track, this is just the laser eye itself moving up and down)
