This is straight from admin at freedo, just a simple copy and paste.
Hello everybody,
Finally, after all this time, we were able to find some free time and put together few updates for you. As of today we're announcing countdown for new website and new features. here is short preview of what's coming on May 1st:

New, web-site with all info available on the console's design
Hosted Open SDK for opera -- it's raw and buggy but will let you create some useful games/demos; it's based on Eclipse, GCC and SDL
All sources are accessible by SVN
3DO to IDE adapter -- with sources, schematics, layout and gerbers - LPC2168 based
FPGA3DO is not being developed anymore -- instead a port to www.beagleboard.org is nearly completed. However all verilog and testbench sources are available on SVN
As it was said before -- this is our last contribution to the 3DO community, everything else will be done by the community itself from that point on. I personally going to maintain hosting and domain registration for next 3 years, any donations are welcomed to keep the site up past that point (hosting is $10 month)
Editors, bloggers and developers are welcome to register with our joomla; all registrations will be personally validated to insure spam-free environment. Developers, interested to obtain write access to svn, will be asked to contact me via email/pm/icq.
Why does the skeptic in me say that this might not happen on the first? Discuss!

well, they don't exactly have a perfect record for meeting deadlines. i wish them luck. i fear they are over estimating the size of the 3DO community mind you.

I just wish they had finished Freedo, so it was 100.00% and then they refined it. Perhaps make a linux version and a PSP version (I know a lot of people wanted a DC version too)

I do feel they are over ambitious - but I wish them all luck.

Seems like too little too late, really. Especially the SDK -- it'd be nice to have if there were any real legal threat to using the official SDK, but there's just not.

It'll be nice to take a look through, but I'm with 3DOkid... The community just isn't big enough for a lot to come of this.

I think it will help the mame/mess driver at least. There has to be a wealth of knowledge in the source. Also, is 4do still in dev?

It doesn't say a single word about the FreeDO sources. If you think they will be released on May 1st, you'll be disappointed.

I'll take just the one pinch.

I wonder if this reverse psychology will work on them?

I don't think they even got around to releasing a OSX version of FreeDO...

They get it onto linux it can move to just about anything else. I don't understand why they messed about for so long. If they had released the source code it could have been on the: PSP, OSX, PS3, Xbox years ago. I think they thought they could make money. But obviously...

I dunno but if they don't release the source I'd like to see what happens after that. I would like to assume thats what that line meant though.

Oh come on Kid, you know the PSP couldn't handle the power of the 3DO.

I think you've said it be fore 3doKid, they overestimate the 3do fan base.

Don't make me spank you.

It's true. They could be overestimating the 3DO fan base. Then again, I know quite a few serious Russian and German 3DO collectors, who are not an active part of the 3DO scene, and would be interested in this.
Who knows.

All sources to the previously mentioned Open SDK for Opera will be accessible by SVN. That's what it refers to.

However, even if they never release the FreeDO source, it will see a release someday, trust me. ;)

Heh. Yep, looks like it's not going to happen. :P

It was somewhat predictable. I would have been surprise if something to contrary had happened.

There's still more time left today heh. I'm not gonna hold my breath though.

Where did my optimism go? It must of vanished with my life heh.

admin said he had the flu, but not the swine variety.

No no no... this is actually just a count down to the NEXT count down, which will feature a graphic of an analog clock. :P

Optimistic. I was just hoping to see if the clock went positive after it reached zero.

Well, the secret is the Analog Clock Graphic will just be counting down to a Sand filled hourglass count down graphic.

Which will, of course, count down to a sliding abacus timer.

Or perhaps we've entered a time dilation effect field, and are merely unable to witness the opening in our timestream/reality?

The excitement was in the countdown. You have to remember that. Years from now, we'll look back and remember...
