NES Games on 3DO?

Post by DanG1974 » Wed Oct 27, 2010 11:52 pm

Forgive my ignorance, but is it possible to mod a 3DO to play burned NES games?

I have an FZ-10 just sitting on a shelf in a closet, but I would love to break it out if there were some way to play other systems games on it.

Someone was working on an NES emulator for 3do but the site I saw it on disapeared. Since its now possible to get ISOs properly signed, isn't this very well a possibility now?

I recall there being SMS emulators for the original PlayStation, but they were abysmal at best.. I would maybe think it would be a better idea to start smaller. Maybe the 2600 or something along those lines? :)

Lemmi you are skating on thin ice.

I do recall the NES on 3DO site, as far as I can remember it didn't get all that far. The Dreamcast does a perfect job however.

I did hear that prolonged use of the NES (20+years) makes you gentlements regions fall off. Care to comment ;)

Yes, good news indeed. For women, not me obviously, what do I care?

I would love to see a NES emulator on the 3DO. I wonder what is possible on the 3DO, for example SNES emulation. I wouldn't think so because even the SNES emulator on the Dreamcast wasn't fullspeed

And see my PlayStation comment above.. Don't ever expect anything like a NES emulator (or even close) on the 3DO. Not in any sort of remotely enjoyable, playable manner, anyway.

the problem with emulators on consoles and in general is usually the programmers are too interested in emulating the hardware perfectly instead of getting the games to run even if they have to cheat. What would be even cooler than just another console emulator would be pick out the top ten best NES games ever and give them 3DO make overs.

I suppose to ride on that thought, someone physically ported Super Mario Bros. to the Sega Genesis. It's pretty much identical to the NES game. I have no doubt that the 3DO is less similar to the Genny than the Genny is to the NES, so I'm not sure how easily doable that is, but it would sure make for a neat experiment.

and people are constantly porting 16bit and 32bit era games down to NES so why can't it go the other direction? I think it goes back to the 3DO not having the same following as Sega and Nintendo which is why you see Sonic on SNES and Mario on Sega but and everything else showing up on NES even Super Mario World was ported. I do not know what the specs for 3DO are or how you would even go about it but I am sure it can be done just nobody cares enough to do it.

I never knew this game came out for 3DO. Do you have any pictures, and possibly a copy for sale?

You threaten to hit me, but at least I can spell right ...
Guess what? Next person who talks about getting an ISO off of someone gets an instant ban instead!
It is spelled ICO, and was a PS2 game from about 10 years ago.
