So is ANYBODY in here a fan of valve games? I need video game friends to join in the action with me.

The demo is amazing! Dismemberment and guts galore!

I really wasnt a fan of the first game. But i must say i didnt give it a fair chance. How I see it though, it looks like they are charging full price for something that could of been an addon for half-life 2. And valve really needs to update their game engine.

I like the source engine and feel it holds its own really well in multiplayer games such as Team Fortress 2 and Left 4 Dead. After playing Left 4 Dead 2 I came away really impressed by the tweaks and efficiency of the engine. At the moment I'm on a lowly 320MB 8800GTS awaiting my 5870 upgrade, but the game still looks very pretty. Blood, dismemberment and bloom effects are all here in great detail with no perceivable dip in frames. It makes a refreshing change to play a zombie game in the light as well, finally I can see what I'm shooting at!

Shooting zombies by daylight is like playing Ghost Recon.
There is no horror atmosphere in the L4D2 demo.

Then, have a look at the animations of the zombies. Especially
when they're running at you. It seems they are on a line - and this
line transports them to you. While pulled to you by the line
they make moviements with their legs - which does not fit to
the distance they're leaving behind. It seems like they're skating.

Then: The environment. L4D2 ist like HL2 - the only two games with
natural colors. Which is a good thing.
Bad thang is, the environment is deader than the zombies.
No interaction, only doors and stuff.
I you ever shoot at let's say a trash bag - it's reacting like a 12 ton stone.
Right? Yeah, nothing.

The 1st person perspective is some fisheye-pyramid-thing like in doom 3.
The communication menue is superfluous and lame.

It consists only of script events.
Playing a zombie by yourself - well that's another thing.
Not in the demo of course.

So your not a fan of the game?

Anyway, I'm wrapped in the experience and get much fun out of blowing the zombies up! Didn't really have time to test the garbage bag physics

Left 4 Dead 2 does promise more interaction, in the demo a jukebox was around for you to switch tunes. I read the circus level has actual working games, presume it's shoot the target type fare.
