I don't have a tv that would make bluray worthwhile. The last "new" tv I bought, I did so mainly w/running older video game systems in mind. It works great too. :)

that is an unfair question because DVD does not support those features either they are optional. BUT to answer your question yes a lot of Blu Ray players do in fact support Divx, avi, mkv, and AVCHD files. Most even come with SD card slots or USB plugs now too. And a lot also have netflix, hulu, pandora etc built in so if that is a concern you can really relax cuz there are cheap players out there now that to everything you would want.

Some players play all those for dvd players, im not sure if there are bluray players that do those. I dont see why there wouldn't be. My bluray player is the bluray drive on my laptop, then I output it to the tv via hdmi. SO, my bluray player plays all those :)

SOME do. Not all. My Panasonic will only play them off a DVD-R even though it has an SD slot. It only likes to use the SD for photos. I do have a region assignable Sherwood player that will do them off a disc or a thumb drive, it actually has two USB ports one in the front and another in the back. It's a surprisingly good looking Momitsu clone. I bought it to play foreign BDs and two Jap bootlegs BDs and for a cheap player it gives a good picture. But not all players support DiVX files.
